Job summary

An aviation company located in Sharjah is seeking a qualified Technician to perform tailoring tasks, including seat cover repairs and the maintenance of safety standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in a Base Maintenance Workshop environment, be able to communicate effectively in English, and demonstrate skills in using corresponding tailoring machines and tools. This role emphasizes operational excellence, safety, and teamwork, with significant responsibility for maintaining standards and providing internal customer service.

Qualifications

Job description
Job Purpose

Carries out tailoring tasks, including seat cover repairs and laundry ensuring work is performed timely up to required standards and recorded in accordance with Air Arabia and regulatory requirements.

Key Result Responsibilities – Operational Excellence
  1. Reviews assigned task cards with the Workshops Supervisor to gain full understanding of the work, priorities, documentation requirements and cautions, prior to starting work.
  2. Prepares and performs scheduled assigned task cards, ensuring that the required documentation, parts, tools and GSE are obtained and used per issued instructions.
  3. Carries out required tasks to the standard as per approved maintenance procedures.
  4. Carries out tailoring repairs as instructed by assigned task cards fully in accordance with approved procedures and as directed by the Workshops Supervisor/Engineer In-charge.
  5. Ensures proper tooling / equipment is available to perform tasks, returning all of it in good condition following completion of work.
Key Result Responsibilities – Safety
  1. Manages the safety of own assigned maintenance tasks, ensuring all published mandatory precautions are taken prior to commencing work and during task execution.
  2. Takes positive steps to protect self and other persons in the area of the maintenance activity from any possible injury, including the use of proper GSE and protective equipment.
  3. Pays attention to human factors aspects of maintenance, ensuring that work interruption procedures are followed and that adequate access and lighting is used for maintenance and inspections.
Key Result Responsibilities – Reputation and Teamwork
  1. Internal Customer Service: provides helpful information and support to own team and to other department personnel involved with managing scheduled maintenance tasks.
  2. Representing Air Arabia: presents a positive and competent image of technical professionalism to other companies’ personnel and ABY customers.
Key Result Responsibilities – Cost Awareness
  1. Maintains positive awareness to the cost of aircraft maintenance including use of time and materials. Minimises unnecessary waste of consumable material and part repair cost by avoiding unnecessary damage and repeat work during maintenance.
Qualifications (Academic, training, languages)
  • Qualified and experienced Technician in the relevant workshop, at least 2 years of experience.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English to a good standard for technical communications.
  • Ability to use corresponding tailoring machine and tools.
Work Experience

External applicants

  • At least 2 years’ experience performing tailoring tasks, preferably on large commercial aircrafts as Airbus.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a Base Maintenance Workshop environment.
  • Able to demonstrate basic understanding of Airlines Maintenance theory and practice.
