Job Summary

The Store Assistant supports daily operations in the warehouse or parts store by assisting in receiving, storing, and issuing materials, tools, and heavy equipment parts. This role ensures proper handling and accurate documentation of inventory to maintain smooth warehouse operations and availability of required items.

Responsibilities
  • Receiving & Inspection: Receive incoming parts, tools, and materials; check for quantity and quality against delivery notes or invoices.
  • Storage & Organization: Place items in designated storage locations using proper handling methods to avoid damage.
  • Issuing Materials: Prepare and issue requested parts and materials to technicians or customers based on approved requests or work orders.
  • Inventory Support: Assist in periodic stock counts and report discrepancies to the Storekeeper or Inventory Checker.
  • Documentation & System Entry: Record all transactions manually or in the inventory management system, ensuring accurate stock levels.
  • Housekeeping & Safety: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the store area, adhering to safety and operational procedures.
  • Labeling & Identification: Ensure all materials are properly labeled and easily identifiable.
  • Assistance in Loading/Unloading: Help in loading and unloading heavy equipment parts with appropriate tools or equipment.
Qualifications

To be a successful Storekeeper / Warehouse Assistant, you should be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of supporting warehouse and inventory operations efficiently. To succeed in this role, you should have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Automotive Technical or Supply Chain Certification, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 0–1 year of experience in warehouse or store operations, preferably in the automotive or heavy equipment sector
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control procedures and warehouse safety practices
  • Ability to handle and lift moderately heavy parts
  • Familiarity with warehouse tools, barcode scanners, or basic computer systems (an advantage)
  • Experience with inventory handling, documentation, stock binning, and labeling
  • Understanding of parts identification, preferably for heavy equipment
  • Strong customer focus, responding politely and professionally to inquiries
  • Demonstrates accountability, adaptability, teamwork, and a results-oriented mindset
