Job summary

A leading company is seeking a Senior Welding Engineer in Abu Dhabi to oversee all welding activities on site. This role requires extensive experience in welding engineering within the oil and gas sector, along with strong knowledge of relevant standards and certifications. Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering, with a Master's in welding being highly desirable. The successful applicant will apply their expertise to ensure compliance, quality, and project performance while managing documentation and welding processes effectively.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 12 years in oil and gas industry, 10 years in welding engineering.
  • Must have GCC experience, preferably in UAE.
  • ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MT & PT required.

  • Prepare, review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (PWPS).
  • Manage welding project statuses and resolve issues.
  • Develop, prepare and approve Welding Procedures (WPS & WPQR).

Job description

We are looking for a Senior Welding Engineer for one of our clients with the following details:

Location: Abu Dhabi UAE (Site based)

Expected start date: ASAP

Duration: 24 months

Qualification and Experience Required:

  • Minimum Qualification: Bachelor of Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering with Master's degree in welding
  • Minimum of 12 years of professional working experience in the oil and gas industry, of which ten (10) years of experience relevant to the role and responsibilities such as Senior Welding Engineer
  • Language Preference: English
  • Certification Required: Professional certification in welding engineering like IWE or CWE
  • GCC Work Experience: UAE Experience preferred
  • Other requirement: ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MT & PT.

Services Description

  • Preparation, review and approval of preliminary Welding Procedure Specification (PWPS), Welding Procedure Qualification Record (WPQR), WPS as per ASME or API 1104

Knowledge and experience in the following areas is essential:

  • Arc welding process deployment.
  • GMAW and FCAW Process deployment
  • Standards interpretation, weld inspection and testing.
  • Review and analyse welding documentation and other inspection reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Work closely with Construction and quality team to maintain the Project welding performance, welding rejection and Welder performance are within the KPI and identify and troubleshoot welding-related issues, such as defects, distortions, and material failures, and propose appropriate solutions or process improvements if any.
  • Oversee welding project statuses, resolve issues, provide technical support, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage Welding Performance Qualification Test (WPOTI activities, ensuring targets are met Development, preparation and approval of Welding Procedures (WPS & WPQR)
  • Strong Knowledge of LAB Test requirements for Procedure qualification including according to API 1104 and ADNOC Sour Service Specification. (Tensile Test, Impact test, Hardness Test, Bend Test, Neck Break, CTOD, HIC, SONIC, SSC)
  • Identification of metallurgical requirements of materials.
  • Strong Knowledge of API-1104 welding of pipelines Standard.
