Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing complex MEP projects.
  • Demonstrated capability in pre-contract and post-contract activities.

  • Prepare detailed MEP cost estimates and budgets.
  • Administer MEP contracts and manage contractor relationships.

What this job involves:

We are seeking an experienced Senior MEP Quantity Surveyor to join our team in RAK, providing expert technical and commercial support across all project phases. This role requires a qualified engineer with comprehensive knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, combined with strong commercial acumen to manage costs, contracts, and procurement activities from inception to completion.

Note: This role requires post-contract deployment in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) for approximately 50% of the time.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Pre-Contract Duties

  • Cost Planning & Estimation
    • Prepare detailed MEP cost estimates and budgets for mechanical and electrical systems.
    • Develop cost models and benchmarking data for various building types and MEP installations.
  • Tender & Procurement Management
    • Prepare comprehensive MEP tender documentation, specifications, and bills of quantities.
    • Evaluate and analyze MEP contractor submissions and technical proposals.
  • Technical Advisory
    • Review MEP design proposals for constructability and cost implications.

Post-Contract Duties

  • Contract Administration
    • Administer MEP contracts and manage contractor relationships.
    • Attend site visits and project meetings in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) as required, with an expectation of being based on-site in RAK approximately 50% of the time during the post-contract phase.
  • Cost Control & Reporting
    • Maintain detailed cost control systems for MEP works.
    • Prepare monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
    • Identify and report cost risks and opportunities.
    • Manage MEP project budgets and expenditure tracking.

Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:

  • CostX measurement software or similar, Advanced proficiency in digital takeoff and measurement.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and project management software.
  • Familiarity with BIM software and MEP modeling tools.
  • Experience with cost databases and benchmarking tools.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10-12 years of quantity surveying experience with a focus on MEP systems.
  • Minimum 3 years in a senior QS role managing complex MEP projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in both pre-contract and post-contract activities.
  • Experience with projects valued at AED500m with significant MEP components.
