The role This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior I&C Designer to join our Iraq Operations Business. The position is full‑time residential based in Sharjah, UAE.

Key Objectives

Contributes to engineering excellence by linking engineering design theory and practical application, translating critical design concepts into workable plans for tangible end‑products.

  • Prepares engineering drawings in their discipline area from rough sketches or general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
  • Creates designs and detailed plans for commercial, industrial, civil sector structures and plant and/or manufactured products and systems.
  • Plans and carries out technical assignments of substantial variety and complexity; capable of handling diverse procedures and techniques.
  • Undertakes technical assignments that are a significant part of an ongoing engineering program.
  • Prepares mechanical or digital drawings, diagrams, blueprints or models of various products or structures using CAD and/or CADD software.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Develops working drawings within company and industry standards from equipment specifications and detailed drawings to support engineering deliverables.
  • Creates drawings involving plans, layouts, calculations and bills of material.
  • Works on assignments using a variety of design procedures and techniques.
  • Records observations, performs calculations and prepares reports on assignments.
  • Performs layouts, design and checking work from the basic data supplied.
  • Designs and makes detailed drawings from rough sketches involving intricate calculations and fundamental engineering principles.
  • Establishes project drafting standards and monitors conformance.
  • Identifies cost‑effective solutions to design problems.
  • Assists in the preparation of bid evaluations.
  • Designs and constructs models, prototypes, processes or equipment; compiles and evaluates data, makes recommendations, prepares reports.
  • Prepares estimates of time, quantities, materials and labour for activities related to testing, installation, manufacture, design or construction.
  • Generates bills of materials from finished designs.
  • At more experienced levels, may act as coordinator on small projects and prepare specifications for complex equipment or processes.
  • Ensures quality in design, technical accuracy of drawings and material quantities, including reviewing others’ work at senior levels.
  • Plans assigned work effectively and obtains/provides information by liaising with the project team and line manager, in time to control man‑hours and achieve targets.
  • Carries out site visits/surveys and provides inputs to site visit reports.
Working Relationships

Internal:

  • Interfaces regularly with discipline engineers, project engineers and project management.

External:

  • Unlikely to be required to interface with external parties.
Level of Influence & Decision‑Making Authority
  • Works under the general supervision of a senior engineer/design supervisor.
  • Has some autonomy to exercise judgment in application.
  • Work is checked and verified by more senior personnel.

Expected:

  • B.Sc. or equivalent degree in the Engineering discipline from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 10+ years relevant experience in major Brownfield oil & gas projects, including at least five (5) years in a similar position.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Specific experience in Oil and Gas projects across their lifecycle in the GCC region, preferred.
  • Pre‑FEED, FEED experience is required.
  • Detailed Engineering experience is preferred.
