Job summary

A leading oil and gas company in the United Arab Emirates is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of rotating equipment. The ideal candidate will have 8 years of experience in engineering roles and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Responsibilities include supervising maintenance activities, participating in risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with HSE standards. This position demands comprehensive knowledge of rotating equipment design and the oil and gas industry.

Qualifications

Job description
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Supervise the installation, maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and modification activities of rotating equipment in the plant to ensure safe and efficient services.
  • Review preventive maintenance plans/schedules and prepare task lists/maintenance programs for rotating equipment in the plant and supervise the execution of such programs.
  • Provide guidance and advice on actions to be taken on chronic problems, and review requirement for major repair and spare replacements to ensure that all equipment is in accordance with internationally recognized engineering standards.
  • Participate in Risk Assessment exercises and prepare recommendations and guidelines to address the mitigations and controls.
  • Ensure availability of spares, coordinate and follow-up new material orders. Create new proposal for stocking spares (PFS) mainly for new equipment, create item change request, spare parts control, and delete unwanted inventories from the stock.
  • Prepare new maintenance procedures, method statements for new activities and schedule long term activities as per plant shutdown schedules.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance activities with other departments and sections to optimize the utilization of section manpower and to plan and control the major & minor shutdown activities and expenditures.
  • Provide technical support for development, implementation and commissioning of new projects in the mechanical design and specifications to optimize costs and ensure compliance with applicable standards and best practices.
  • Prepare new plant change requests (PCR), study the proposed PCR for implementation and work out plans and schedules for implementing them.
  • Participate in HAZOP review and SIL validation meetings.
  • Carry out study for major rotating equipment frequent failures and provide recommendations.
  • Participate in RCA for incidents related to rotating equipment and provide findings and recommendations.

Supervision

  • Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives.
  • Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective functional objectives.

Budgets

  • Provide input for preparation of the functional budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved Budget and work plans to deliver functional objectives.
  • Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures

  • Implement approved Section / Team / Department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the work programs in line with Company and International standards.

Performance Management

  • Contribute to the achievement of the approved Performance Objectives for the function in line with the Company Performance framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

  • Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes.
  • Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with best Industry standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) and Sustainability

  • Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures & controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC Code of Practices.

Reports

  • Provide inputs to prepare MIS and progress reports for Company Management.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Professional Qualification.
  • 8 years of experience in engineering and maintenance of rotating equipment within a large industrial organization, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
  • Extensive experience in rotating equipment design, engineering, construction and maintenance and operation in the oil and gas industry.
  • Familiarity of international design codes and standards, you will have the ability to prepare design, procurement, construction (pre) commissioning and hand-over specification packages for rotating equipment.
  • Familiarity of the capabilities and shortcomings of major rotating equipment manufacturers, and a proven track record of conducting technical and commercial negotiations with them.
  • Knowledge of HSE procedures & practices.
