Overview

We are currently partnered with a leading European Bulk Shipping group that is in the process of recruiting for a Senior Operator to join their team in Dubai.

In this role you will be primarily responsible for the efficient operations of our own and time chartered vessels in line with internal policies and provide value to internal and external parties.

Responsibilities

• To be in charge for all operational matters on the assigned vessels
• Carefully study all terms & conditions of the agreed contracts and taking care that all requirements are being followed and fulfilled
• Voyage planning (calculating fuel consumption / cargo intake / port rotation / optimal sea route)
• Preparation of voyage orders for the vessels
• Sending agency appointments to the designated agents in the various ports
• Coordinating cargo intake & bunker requirements together with captain of the ship
• Negotiating and ordering bunkers for our voyages, when needed.
• Appointing weather routing company to help fine-tune optimum sea route
• Sending regular updates to vessel / cargo interests.
• Issuing freight invoices / paying & collecting hire and all voyage related expenses
• Coordinating with the finance department for timely payment and collection of amounts due.
• Paying port disbursements and supervising finalization process
• Reviewing / approving cargo documentation and releasing same to relevant parties
• Monitoring ship’s performance at sea
• Arguing performance claims towards clients in case required
• Constant communication / coordination with the Operations management and Chartering team in case of any issues arising during the voyage.
• Data input into IMOS and making sure all relevant information is constantly updated
• Regular monitoring of the profit & loss calculation for each particular voyage in IMOS
• Laytime calculations and negotiation to close the file.
• Claims handling in coordination with legal department and P&I club
• Checking finalized voyages and explaining profits & losses in detail

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of relevant working experience in dry bulk operations
• Experience using Veson IMOS preferred.
• Proactive, efficient, and punctual.
• Be able to work flexible hours and attend to pressing matters whenever required.
