Overview

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Design Manager ( Aviation Systems ) to join our team! In this role you will lead the technical design delivery of Information Technology Systems (ITS) and Aviation Systems within the Integrated Design Delivery Partnership (IDDP) model. This role is critical to delivering integrated technology infrastructure that supports airport operations, passenger services, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the design and development of aviation, including airfield infrastructure, terminal systems, navigation aids, and communication systems.
  • Ensure designs align with international aviation standards (ICAO, FAA, EASA) and local regulations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate aviation systems into broader infrastructure projects.
  • Lead the design phase of aviation projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budgets.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities, to ensure project alignment.
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies to ensure project success.
  • Provide technical guidance on aviation systems, including air traffic management, ground handling systems, and airport operations.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, and design reviews.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and innovations in aviation systems.
  • Manage and mentor a team of designers, engineers, and consultants.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Ensure team members are equipped with the necessary tools and knowledge to deliver high‑quality designs.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure designs meet the highest standards.
  • Conduct regular audits and reviews to maintain compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related technical discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years' experience in information technology and aviation systems design, engineering, and delivery within major airport or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of managing multi‑disciplinary technical teams and overseeing large, complex projects.
  • Extensive experience in design management, coordination, and stakeholder engagement within IDDP or similar delivery models.
  • Demonstrated experience in airport terminal, airside, or aviation infrastructure projects with successful project delivery outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of information technology and aviation systems, interdependencies between ICT, FIDS, CCTV, access control, and related disciplines.
  • Excellent understanding of international design and construction codes, including ICAO, NFPA, IBC, ESTIDAMA, and local Abu Dhabi authority standards.
  • Proficiency in design coordination tools and project management software (e.g., BIM 360, Revit, Navisworks, Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Exceptional problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a collaborative, team‑oriented approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and deliver results in a fast‑paced environment.
Desired Skills
  • Prior experience delivering major airport terminal projects, including design delivery, systems integration, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Understanding of sustainability standards and their integration into airport infrastructure.
  • Experience working in GCC region or Middle East with familiarity of local construction practices and regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of Integrated Design Delivery Partnership (IDDP) or Design‑Build delivery models.
