About the Role

Mott MacDonald is expanding its delivery capability for metro and rail system upgrades across the Middle East — and we’re seeking a highly skilled Senior BMS Engineer to join our transportation and infrastructure division. In this role, you will support the successful implementation of RTA metro station enhancement works, ensuring all Building Management System (BMS) and control system integrations are delivered to the highest engineering, safety, and operational standards. You will play a key role in overseeing system interfacing, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting the testing, commissioning, and integration of new and upgraded station systems into the existing operational network.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Ensure BMS works comply with project specifications, RTA standards, and interface requirements with SCADA, fire alarm, HVAC, electrical, ELV, and other subsystems.
  • Oversee installation, integration, and configuration of BMS controllers, field devices, and communication networks.
  • Conduct technical review of material submittals, method statements, shop drawings, as‑builts and interface control documents (ICDs).
  • Attend and approve Material and Site Inspection Requests, ensuring all works in accordance with approved design, IFC, method statements and materials.
  • Oversee the integration of the BMS system with the existing metro systems, Operational Control Centre (OCC) and support coordination with all stakeholders.
  • Monitor and inspect BMS system installation works on site to ensure quality, safety, and alignment with approved designs.
  • Coordinate interface workshops with contractors and specialist system vendors to resolve integration issues.
  • Support factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), system integration testing (SIT), and pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Verify BMS logic, alarms, trends, graphics, and system sequences of operation for all associated mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Identify and report non‑conformances and ensure timely closure with corrective actions.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of inspections, test results, interface resolutions, and engineering changes.
  • Liaise with the metro operator, contractors, consultants, and internal technical teams to ensure operational readiness.
  • Ensure all works comply with relevant standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, local authority regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Support handover activities including as‑built reviews, O&M documentation, and training for operational staff.
  • Ensure Health and Safety standards observed are as per the approved plan, national and international standards, escalating and identified issues and observations promoting a culture of safety first.
Candidate Specification
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics/Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in BMS, controls, or system integration roles, ideally within rail, metro, airport, or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of BMS platforms (e.g., Siemens, Honeywell, Schneider, Johnson Controls) and communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and OPC.
  • Proven experience in integrating BMS with HVAC, electrical systems, fire alarm, SCADA, ELV, and other station subsystems.
  • Familiarity with interface management processes, FAT/SAT/SIT procedures, and commissioning workflows.
  • Good understanding of industry standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, Dubai Civil Defence requirements, and UAE authority regulations.
  • Excellent technical documentation, reporting, and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and coordination ability with multidisciplinary engineering and site teams.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced project environment and manage complex system interfaces.
