Job Description

We are looking for a highly skilled Resident Engineer Underground Interchange Stations with 710 years of experience in the construction and management of underground interchange stations for metro or large‑scale infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will oversee the construction of complex underground stations, ensuring they meet design specifications, quality standards and safety regulations while maintaining strict adherence to project timelines and budgets. The Resident Engineer will manage a multidisciplinary team, coordinate with contractors, consultants and stakeholders, and ensure the successful completion of underground interchange stations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the day‑to‑day construction activities for underground interchange stations ensuring that all work is completed according to design specifications, safety standards and project timelines.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with contractors, subcontractors and design teams to ensure efficient project delivery and resolve any technical issues that may arise.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards and safety requirements throughout construction.
  • Supervise all aspects of underground station construction, including structural works, MEP systems (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing), tunneling and other critical components.
  • Monitor overall progress and address any delays, disruptions or issues in a timely manner.
  • Review and approve construction method statements, work plans and technical submittals related to the underground interchange stations.
  • Perform regular site inspections and quality control checks to verify that construction works comply with contract documents and quality standards.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for site‑related technical queries and provide expert guidance and solutions to the team.
  • Maintain detailed records of site activities, including progress reports, site diaries, incident reports and meeting minutes for submission to senior management.
  • Ensure all work complies with environmental, health, safety and welfare standards and promote a safety‑first culture onsite.
  • Liaise with the project management team to align construction activities with the overall project schedule and milestones.
  • Coordinate preparation and implementation of risk management plans, identifying and mitigating potential risks throughout the project.
  • Lead and supervise resolution of technical and engineering issues that may impact progress of the underground interchange station construction.
  • Ensure proper document control and manage submission of as‑built drawings, inspection reports and other project‑related documentation.
  • Review contractor progress claims, variations and payments ensuring accuracy and compliance with the contract.
  • Facilitate commissioning and handover for the underground interchange stations, ensuring all systems and components are fully operational.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related field.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant experience in the construction of underground interchange stations with experience in metro or large‑scale infrastructure projects.
  • In depth knowledge of underground station construction including complex tunneling, structural works, MEP systems and station integration.
  • Underground interchange stations experience is mandatory
  • Must have worked on Metro projects
  • Strong understanding of local regulations, safety standards and quality control measures in the UAE.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large‑scale construction projects, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and resolving technical challenges.
  • Proficiency in project management software, construction scheduling tools and Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with contractors, consultants and stakeholders.
  • Strong problem‑solving abilities and the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); Arabic language skills are a plus.
  • Valid UAE driver’s licence (preferred).
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in the construction of underground interchange stations, including multi‑level structures and complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with metro systems and the unique challenges associated with constructing underground transportation infrastructure.
  • Previous experience managing high‑volume, high‑complexity projects in urban environments.
