PRODUCT ENGINEER – AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN

5‑7 years in product engineering

About the Role

We are looking for a suitable team lead who is experienced in automotive parts development. The ideal candidate will have experience developing vehicle parts for both aesthetic and utility products.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the Product Development team to finalize product ideas.
  • Check product installation feasibility and prepare design accordingly.
  • Convert images, sketches or drawings into 3‑D models.
  • Create 3‑D models based on scan data (mesh file / STL file).
  • Convert 3‑D simulation to actual engineered product, including A surface & B surface creation.
  • Create detailed 2‑D drawings as per automotive industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Define product material for each kit component.
  • Prepare installation manuals for the products.
  • Justify design performance using CAD tools, e.g., FEA analysis.
Skills
  • Understanding of automotive interior and exterior parts engineering and installation (e.g., bumpers, interior trim panels, lighting, etc.).
  • Understanding of automotive standards and regulations for designing genuine vehicle components.
  • Able to perform reverse engineering from scan data or physical parts (mesh to CAD, STL to STP or IGES).
  • Knowledge of materials (plastics and metal) and their manufacturing processes.
  • Able to predict expected failures in production or on‑field and make design changes during the design phase.
Qualifications

Diploma/BE in Automotive/Mechanical engineering.

Must‑Have
  • Proficient in 3‑D CAD software (AutoCAD, SOLIDWORKS, Rhino, NX, CATIA).
  • Experience with Product DFMEA.
