Job summary

A leading recruitment consultancy in the UAE is seeking a Procurement Specialist to manage timely procurement and supplier relations in construction projects. The ideal candidate should have a recognized engineering degree, extensive experience (10+ years in commercial roles, 20+ overall in construction), and possess strong leadership and time management skills. Applicants with previous experience in the Middle East are preferred, as they will handle procurement procedures and optimize costs against the company's budget.

Qualifications

  • 10 years experience in a Commercial Department, 20 years overall in Construction/Infrastructure.
  • Ability to review technical drawings and specifications.
  • Previous experience in the Middle East is preferred.

Job description
Responsibilities
  • 1.1.1. Ensure timely procurement (PRs processed) and POs issued to suppliers within 56 working days and materials delivered against project specifications and requirements.
  • 1.1.2. Economical procurement accurately anticipating future pricing and availability trends and taking corrective action to avoid future issues as appropriate.
  • 1.1.3. Achieve savings in materials against budget to contribute to the profitability of the company.
  • 1.1.4. Monitoring of project costs (materials purchase) against the approved budget and highlighting any variances and gaining approval for same.
  • 1.1.5. Coordinate with Operations Tendering and QHSE to identify more economical materials in order to achieve value engineering.
  • 1.1.6. Identifying new reliable suppliers and retaining existing suppliers with good history and meeting our requirements. Avoiding monopolisation of suppliers without risking Companys operations.
  • 1.1.7. Holding stopping or rejecting wrong material requests to avoid inventory wastage & loss. Avoiding excess material ordering.
  • 1.1.8. Cost & Benefit Analysis for Bulk Orders.
  • 1.1.9. Sustaining operations pressure on delayed or early procurement.
  • 1.1.10. Effective management motivation and development of subordinates for optimal performance.
Requirements
  • 1. Recognized degree in Engineering preferably with a Recognised Professional Qualification and membership.
  • 2. At least 10 years experience in Commercial Department and 20 years overall experience in Construction/Infrastructure field.
  • 3. Ability to review technical drawings and specifications.
  • 4. Good Leadership and Management Skills.
  • 5. Excellent in time management & deadlines.
  • 6. Previous experience in the Middle East is preferred.
