Position - Principal Engineer (Installation)

Job Description Role/Purpose: Jobs at this level are responsible for leading a group of Naval Architects and Installation Discipline Engineers on jobs and on the Discipline function. The candidate supports in effective management & co-ordination of engineering activities of the Discipline. Provide guidance on all design, engineering and technical matters to Discipline Engineers and reports directly to Technical Authority and Engineering Manager. Monitoring project progress and ensuring compliance with established programs, procedures and technical accuracy of engineering deliverables & support services.

Responsibilities:

  1. Review / Develop Naval Architecture Design Basis.
  2. Review / Develop Naval Architecture calculations / guide Naval Architects to perform calculations.
  3. Review / Develop Scope of work documents for subcontract.
  4. Manages resources & provides expertise.
  5. Review Planning Package and assess discipline project progress.
  6. Works within Engineering Department procedures.
  7. Recommends organizational and manpower plans.
  8. Monitor and Control manhours to ensure that the job is finished within budgeted manhours.
  9. Review’s manhour estimates for projects and assist TA / EM on revision of norms.
  10. Review and approve discipline development activities including timely release of EBP’s, LL’s and updating guidelines / procedures to strengthen discipline.
  11. Contribute to development of discipline capabilities.

Skills Required Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bachelor of Engineer in Naval Architecture or Marine Engineering.
  2. Overall, 15+ years of experience with a minimum of 3 years as Principal Engineer (Naval Architecture & Installation) or in a superior role in an EPC/Consultant.
  3. Proven skills in Naval Architecture calculations and use of Naval Architect software and spreadsheets.
  4. Knowledge of Engineering software/ Design Codes with hands-on experience in GHS, SESAM modules – HydroD / SIMA / SIMO or Moses.
  5. Excellent knowledge in load out, transportation, lifting, launching and float over installation engineering.
  6. Excellent knowledge in hydrostatics and hydrodynamics.
  7. Good understanding of design of rigging / mooring arrangement for barges during load outs, float over, launching etc., conceptual Design of Installation Aids, Bumpers and Guides.
  8. Capable of providing technical assistance / guidance on all installation design engineering and technical matters to perform lifting operations, both onshore and Offshore.
  9. Has good knowledge of Weight Engineering concepts.
  10. Familiar with offshore installation procedures, industry and MWS standards.
  11. Planning & organising skills.
  12. Understanding of Engineering disciplines in Oil & Gas industry.
  13. Excellent Communication & Presentation skills.
  14. Excellent Written and spoken English.
  15. Excellent technical knowledge and Decision making skills.
