ROLE SUMMARY

As a Patient Engagement Lead, you will serve as the company’s primary architect of AstraZeneca’s engagement with the patient community and patient support groups across all therapy areas (CVRM, Respiratory & Immunology, Oncology, and Rare Disease) in the Gulf & Pakistan Cluster. You will be at the forefront of patient‑centricity, bridging the company and patient communities, translating insights, co‑creating solutions and leading programs that amplify the patient voice, address unmet needs, and accelerate access to healthcare innovations.

What you’ll do
  • Strategy Development: Design and lead the patient engagement strategy aligned with brand and medical plans.
  • Program Ownership: Lead and implement key patient initiatives for the Medical Affairs function, including education campaigns, advisory boards, market research, and story‑driven projects.
  • Cross‑Functional Partnership: Orchestrate and guide patient‑related initiatives carried out by other functions (Patient Support Programs, Affordability Programs), ensuring robust governance, compliance, and audit readiness.
  • External Relationship Building: Develop impactful partnerships with patient advocacy groups, NGOs, and patient support organisations, creating two‑way dialogue and co‑designed solutions.
  • Governance & Excellence: Oversee the execution of priority patient programs, manage third‑party vendors, drive operational excellence, and ensure full compliance with AstraZeneca and industry standards.
  • Monitor & Measure: Define relevant metrics, track performance, and report outcomes to senior leadership.
Essential for the role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Pharmacy or Nursing
  • Minimum 4 years’ Medical Affairs experience, including 1 year of hands‑on execution with excellent patient initiatives and compliance experience
  • Strong project management, communication and presentation skills
  • Extensive experience in relationship and stakeholder management both internal and external
  • Strong matrix leadership experience in governance and orchestration of cross‑functional initiatives
  • Strong knowledge of patient interactions and PSP standards, Third Party Risk Assessment and related global standards and industry codes and legislations in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to develop strategic partnerships
  • Fluency in English
