PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project is a diverse portfolio of projects that contribute to Abu Dhabis growth. This includes developing community facilities such as schools, mosques, parks, etc. KBR will provide Project Management Consultancy services in project planning, controls, design, and engineering management and implementation of the development and early works packages.

THE ROLE

Assists the Program Director and Senior Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Manager in the overall management of the Occupational Safety and Health Management processes and systems. Lead, direct, and supervise OSH professionals and manage implementation of the OSH programs, processes, and strategies over a defined geographic area or a physical project location and construction projects worksites.

Overseeing daily operations related to occupational safety and health in the construction industry by effectively executing assigned duties, ensuring the strict adherence to the Clients Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) management system requirements, OSHAD SF, applicable Codes of Practices, mechanisms, directives from the UAE Authorities, and other pertinent regulations, aligning with KBRs Zero Harm and Courage to Care corporate philosophy.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate the delivery of the OSH products and services to own Management Team in support of business acquisition and execution.
  • Frequently interfaces with peers, subordinates, and operations personnel.
  • Rational communication, detailed narrative, and emotional intelligence in dealing with complex OSH management issues that require in-depth knowledge, attention to detail, and sense for the moment.
  • Pioneering the proactive and innovative processes within the Project OSH systems managed by providing a know-how and directly positively affecting development, implementation, and maintenance of the project Positive incident prevention Safety Culture.
  • The successful candidate shall demonstrate strong soft skills, including but not limited to proactive communication, passionate leading by example attitude, an eye for the operational improvements and practical implementation, emotional intelligence, integrity, and honesty.
  • Able to perform under pressure with the same level and quality of performance.
  • Possess a working knowledge of health, safety, regulatory requirements, as well as expert working knowledge in multiple areas.
  • Expected to engage in personnel development, training/coaching, and other administrative activities, as well as make presentations and participate in conferences and industry associations.
  • Thorough implementation of the OSH Standards as per UAE HSE Legislation and Clients requirements for the OSH Deliverables.
  • Leading the OSH Incident investigations with experience and an expert observation ability to determine the root cause, immediate cause, contributing facts, and determine the organizational improvements to achieve the lasting corrective actions.
  • Duties may span across all business sectors but are likely to be project or location specific.
  • Monitors the performance of the own OSH Team as well as Supervising Consultants and Contractors with respect to the Occupational Safety & Health by active participation in the OSH monitoring processes.
  • Coordinates with the Senior OSH Manager on the issues related to systematic implementation of the OSHMS for necessary and lasting improvements.
  • Supports, guides, and leads the Contractors and Supervising Consultants in the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health policies and procedures.
  • Liaison with the Supervising Consultants and Contractors OSH Teams to ensure an effective flow of health and safety information and implementation of the specific processes.
  • Regularly visits construction project sites to proactively identify prevalent Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) issues, assess the trends, and devises strategies/actions for immediate and substantial enhancement.
  • Gathers the specific data and prepares the variety of the Occupational Safety and Health Statistics reports.
  • In conjunction with the OSH Team reviews Contractors OSH Logistics, Heat stress, Adverse Weather, Waste management, Traffic management, and Emergency plans, MS/RAs, and other related Plans and procedures prepared by the contractor and supervising consultant for compliance with existing Client and UAE Occupational and Health requirements.
  • Provide Health and Safety technical expertise and specific trainings to the own programme staff.
EXPERIENCE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Mandatory PMC or Consultancy experience.
  • A minimum of 15 years of vivid experience in Health and Safety domain preferred with a minimum of 7 years specifically in a role of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Manager, Lead or above.
  • OSHAD SF Practitioner (preferred but not mandatory)
  • OSHMS Level 6 Diploma
  • OHSMS (ISO 45001) Lead Auditor Certification
  • Valid safety training certificates indicating courses attended and subject matter expertise.
  • UAE Major Construction Projects Experience (preferably work experience in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi)
  • Candidate shall be in possession of the experience certificates (letters from the former employers detailing the individuals experience and previous roles).
  • In addition to meeting all qualification prerequisites, the candidate(s) shall possess a thorough experience in implementation of the Occupational Health and Safety management systems specifics coupled with a strong character and proactive OSH Professional attitude.
  • High level of report writing and data analytic skills.
  • Proficient user of MS Office
  • UAE Driving License
