About the job

Based at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi within the Engineering Department, The Mechanical Technician is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all installation, maintenance, and repair work at the Central Plant building. The role involves managing teams of workers, assigning tasks based on daily requirements, and ensuring smooth execution of operations. Additionally, the technician is accountable for maintaining all equipment relevant to the Central Plant. The Mechanical Technician reports to the Maintenance Manager.

As a Mechanical Technician, you will beresponsiblefor the following duties:

• Maintain and ensure proper functioning, cleanliness, and safety of all hotel engineering plant equipment including chillers, pumps, HVAC units, refrigeration, motors, plumbing, hydraulics, fire & safety systems, kitchen and laundry equipment.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance, complete and update all work orders in HotSoS/IFMS before end of shift and keep accurate records and logs.
• Identify and report major repair needs, ensure availability of tools and materials, and strictly follow safety standards including Lockout/Tagout, PTW, and FLHSS compliance.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and guest satisfaction, communicate effectively across shifts, and support emergency response when required.
• Provide on-the-job training, encourage skill development and multitasking within the team, and perform additional duties as assigned by the line manager.
• Adhere to hotel policies, procedures, and safety standards while consistently delivering excellent guest service with urgency, professionalism, and respect for privacy.
• Anticipate guest needs, resolve issues promptly and creatively, work collaboratively with colleagues, and go the extra mile to exceed expectations while creating memorable experiences.

As a Mechanical Technician, weexpectfrom you:

• Previous experience in the same role in luxury property, resort experience is a plus
• Skilled in performing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks
• Strong ability to resolve engineering issues using both theoretical and practical knowledge
• Good understanding of hotel operations and general civil works
• Proficient in predictive maintenance and the use of maintenance software applications
• Capable of analyzing feedback and recommending effective remedial actions
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
