JOB SUMMARY

The Regional Head of Credit Portfolio Analytics ("CPA") within the Syndicate & Portfolio Management ("SPM") will lead the relevant CPA analyst teams in the specific region.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
  • Bring strategic thought and vision as to how the sector landscape is changing and where areas of growth lie – contribute to the global view and specific to the region managed.
  • Contribute to formulation of CIB’s strategy and 5-year Corporate Plan and its successful execution in the region by dynamically and appropriately risk managing the respective loan portfolios, minimizing loan impairments, supporting revenue growth, recycling capital and maximising ROTE.
  • Proactively identify / bring to the attention of key business and risk stakeholders emerging strategic risk and assist in devising strategies in reshaping businesses to mitigate these – contribute to the global view and specific to the region managed.
Business
  • Oversee CIB portfolio in the region and for establishing and maintaining an end to end understanding of client needs and steering the client relationships to facilitate achievement of revenue aspirations across the portfolio.
  • Proactively managing and mitigating credit risk (monitoring and analysis) in the portfolio in close co-ordination with Coverage, Product teams, Risk, SPM teams and other stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight and ensuring a high standard of credit governance and quality of analysis. In addition, the analyst teams assess and monitors all enterprise risks including operational risk, market risk, reputational risk, fraud risk and climate risk.
  • Assist in driving policy/process/platform change as well as adoption of new technology like AI to continuously improve productivity levels.
  • Contribute to managing the impact from regulatory and accounting changes.
Processes
  • Proactively manage / monitor the overall CIB client assets portfolio across all products in the region to minimize risks, ECLs and maximize risk adjusted returns.
  • Partner coverage and product bankers in pursuing client strategies through proactive idea generation, support in client pitching and implementation of account strategy.
  • Ensure appropriate deal structuring & post deal monitoring so that transactions are in line with regulatory / policy requirements and meet client needs.
  • Support business growth and actively participate in the underwriting and credit assessment of new and existing clients.
  • Contribute to CPA MT meetings and other relevant forums in the regions.
  • Partner Risk through proactive and considered discussion of key risk aspects in the portfolio managed by the team.
  • Ensure that industry and product knowledge is continually developed within the team.
  • Stay abreast and anticipate the developments of the segments in which our clients operate.
  • Provide timely portfolio updates to GH CPA, GH CPM, GH SPM and other key senior stakeholders of the various businesses, risk & other control functions.
  • Assist in robust deal selection, conflict resolution and risk management to ensure the business is consistent with the strategy and risk appetite.
  • Ensure forward looking Credit analysis and make recommendations to actively sell down/Credit insure assets in the book.
  • Work closely with SAG and the respective product & coverage teams to ensure that stage 3 ECLs are reasonable and arrived logically with realistic assumptions.
  • Review structure, timing, pricing to market, and executing the distribution strategies of primary / secondary syndicated loans.
  • Distribution of loans in secondary markets for the Bank alongside Loan Syndicate teams.
  • Provide loan market intelligence to Coverage and Product partners to enable origination to distribute.
People & Talent
  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from the team and work in collaboration with risk and other partners.
  • Ensure the provision of ongoing training and development of people and ensure that holders of all critical roles are suitably skilled and qualified ensuring that they have effective supervision in place to mitigate any risks.
  • Employ, engage, and retain high quality people, with succession planning for critical roles.
  • Responsible to review team structure/capacity plans in the region. Support and work on the execution of the Hub strategy to optimize analyst resourcing in the hubs vis‑à‑vis in country presence to manage costs without impacting quality of delivery.
  • Develop robust credit underwriting skills in the team with top quality analysis.
  • Set and monitor job descriptions and objectives for direct reports and provide feedback and rewards in line with their performance against those responsibilities and objectives.
  • Ensure that performance is measured by reference to performance against the targets agreed on the scorecards as well as conduct and risk / control culture.
  • Commit to diversity and inclusion principles in hiring approach.
Risk Management
  • Ensure that a governance control framework and policies/procedures are in place to make all employees aware of and compliant with current bank and local/international requirements and expectations in respect applicable regulation.
  • Enforce a culture of risk management, control and governance, and ensure that the team complies with the risk management processes in place.
  • Proactively advise and monitor all major risk issues and concentrations. Ensure that risk management matters are subject to direct remedial action and/or escalated, where appropriate to relevant risk committee.
  • Coordinate and conduct Stress Tests and portfolio review exercises for periodic check on the health of the portfolio and take appropriate risk management measures.
  • Ensure proactive monitoring of accounts and minimise slippages and loan impairments.
  • Monitoring of accounts on full spectrum of enterprise risk.
  • Support Compliance Function in communicating effectively internal policies/guidelines and regulatory requirements and proactively alerting compliance issues.
  • Risk/Return analysis and optimization of ROTE and PBT.
  • Recommendations to be based on forward looking risks (driven by CG downgrades and hence incremental Credit losses, stress tests, etc.) and support on repackaging deals with the distribution / securitisation teams for Funded/Unfunded Risk Participations or synthetic sell downs (e.g. CLOs).
  • Resolve audit and compliance issues in a timely manner.
Governance
  • To ensure team compliance with local regulatory bodies and the Bank’s policies as laid down by Group Legal & Compliance.
  • Embed the Group’s values and Code of Conduct in the underlying teams to ensure that adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations among employees form part of the culture.
  • Awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework, in which the Group operates, and the regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to the role.
  • Responsible for delivering ‘effective governance’; capability to challenge fellow executives effectively; and willingness to work with any local regulators in an open and cooperative manner.
  • Accountable for escalation and/or other Group governance committees or stakeholders in senior management, risk or control functions.
  • Ensure engagement with senior stakeholders - country / regional / global heads (as relevant) to align priorities and proactively address any issues.
