About the Role

Mott MacDonald is looking for a Materials Engineer to ensure that all materials used in the project are compliant with the project’s specifications and approved by all relevant authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and approval of the contractor’s proposed materials and methods as instructed by the Senior Resident Engineer.
• General oversight of the contractor’s daily activities including works assignments, on-site performance and guidance on the contractor’s operations.
• Attend and lead inspections on site as required.
• Follow up testing and approvals from the relevant authorities.
• Review of contractor’s testing requests and following completed reports.
• Review and approve the contractor’s submissions.
• Monitor the performance of material delivery and accuracy of materials used on site.
• Coordination with contractor’s supervisory personnel regarding schedule, sequence and method of work.
• Ensure and monitor compliance with the contractor’s schedule.
• Continuous field inspections of the work in the progress; consultation with both the Resident Engineer’s and Contractor’s supervision staff.
• Preparation of reports to the Resident Engineer on contractual and procedural matters.

Candidate Specification

• Bachelors qualified with an engineering degree in a relevant discipline.
• Experience in large construction programmes and design-and-build contracts.
• Proven experience of working on large infrastructure and/or Landscape projects in the region.
• Good knowledge of local materials standards.
• Safeguard - To operate ethically and with integrity, while prioritizing safety and security in all that you do.
• Know how to prioritize, advocate focus and accountability.
• Use clear and frequent communications, drive execution and results.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
