Summary:
The Market Analyst plays a critical role in delivering high-impact insights for the Marine & Logistics Services division. The role focuses on turning complex market, operational, and commercial data into clear, compelling stories that support decision‑making, business development, pricing, and service expansion - particularly across RoRo, Breakbulk, Marine Services, and general shipping verticals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Market Intelligence & Research
- Conduct ongoing research on RoRo, Breakbulk, Marine Services, and wider shipping industry trends.
- Analyse trade flows, vessel movements, port performance, competitor activities, and market dynamics.
- Monitor key geopolitical, regulatory, and economic factors impacting marine & logistics sectors.
Data Analysis & Insight Generation
- Clean, structure, and analyse large datasets (internal + external) to extract meaningful insights.
- Build dashboards, trackers, and trend‑overviews for business planning and management reporting.
- Develop early warnings, opportunity maps, and risk indicators for leadership decision‑making.
Visualization, Reporting & Storytelling
- Translate complex analyses into engaging storylines that support commercial strategy.
- Create presentation‑ready visual outputs for senior leadership using PowerPoint, Prezi, Canva AI, and GammaAI.
- Deliver weekly/monthly insight reports with clear recommendations and structured narratives.
- Build compelling executive summaries that highlight “What this means for us” and “Recommended actions”.
Commercial Support
- Support business development by preparing market packs, customer/segment deep‑dives, and capability decks.
- Assist in pricing support, RFQs, and opportunity evaluation for marine logistics projects.
- Provide scenario modelling to anticipate capacity, demand, cost changes, or route shifts.
Internal Collaboration & Agility
- Work closely with Marine Services, Commercial, Operations, Finance, and Strategy teams.
- Deliver rapid‑response insights for senior leadership—aligned to fast‑paced business cadence.
- Manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Economics, Logistics, Data Analytics, or related field
- 2 - 5 years of experience in shipping, marine logistics, RoRo, Breakbulk, terminals, maritime services, or similar.
- Understanding of vessel types, port operations, cargo flows, freight dynamics, and marine service models.
- Experience with market data platforms (Clarksons, Drewry, Alphaliner, etc.) is an advantage.
- Advanced skills in Excel (modelling, analytics dashboards).
- Strong proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, and interactive presentation tools (Prezi, GammaAI, Canva AI).
- Sharp analytical mind with strong business intuition.
- Highly organized and structured in report creation and data storytelling.
