Qualifications

  • Preferably holding a UAE Driving License.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in similar role.
  • 5 years of experience in surveying or P&I work preferred.
  • 3 years sailing experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Handle marine surveys from 1st notification to conclusion.
  • Prepare clear and concise survey reports as per P&I Club requirements.
  • Meet financial targets and respond to correspondence.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated individual to fill the role of Marine Surveyor in our GAC Dubai operation. Could you be the ideal candidate?

Job Description

The main purpose of the job is to act promptly, professionally and effectively, attending to draft container/cargo/ bunker surveys as well as surveys for collisions/pollution/marine Incidents and sealing/unsealing of hatch covers. The surveyor will also witness cargo samples during analysis in labs, respond to all business correspondence, maintain accurate and regular timesheets, coordinate with third party contractors, meet financial targets, provide advice to Principals/P&I Club Members, and meet with local ship owners and agent to enhance business relationships. The job contributes towards department goals and targets by proactively handling claims and generating as much income as possible.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Handle marine surveys from 1st notification to conclusion
  2. Attend to surveys whenever appropriate and retain as much as the outsourced survey work as possible
  3. Read and respond to all correspondence and incoming mails from Principals and P&I Club Members
  4. Prepare clear and concise survey reports as per P&I Club requirements
  5. Maintain accurate and regular time sheets of all work done and account for all disbursements
  6. Liaise with third party contractors and use appropriately for survey work
  7. Achieve set financial targets every month and follow up on outstandings
  8. Conduct marketing with local ship owners and agents
