Job summary

A leading engineering company based in the UAE is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to manage all structural engineering activities for offshore projects. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards and lead a team through the design, installation, and commissioning phases. Applicants should have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, at least 15 years of experience in oil & gas projects, and offshore experience. This is a full-time, on-site opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas EPC projects.
  • Mandatory offshore experience in brownfield platform projects.
  • Chartered Engineer status (PE / CEng) is advantageous.

Job description
Role Purpose

Lead and manage all structural engineering activities for the Offshore Project at Umm Shaif Super Complex USSC. The role ensures structural integrity constructability and compliance with ADNOC Offshore standards for new equipment installations, skids, pipe supports and modifications on existing live offshore structures. The Lead Structural Engineer will coordinate with Engineering Subcontractors, OEMs, Marine teams and ADNOC Offshore Engineering & Operations from FEED through EPC installation and commissioning.

Structural Discipline Technical Authority (Owner Engineer)

Serve as the primary authority for all structural engineering activities related to IA/PA upgrades ensuring adherence to ADNOC Structural Engineering Standards, ISO API RP2A, AISC, BS and offshore structural codes, ADNOC offshore brownfield requirements, Project Basis of Design and FEED integrity, structural integrity and safety requirements for all package equipment, and provide clear oversight and final approval on structural discipline matters.

Structural Review of Package Equipment Integration

Lead structural engineering governance for integrating instrument air compressors, plant air compressors, twin tower dryers, IA/PA air receivers, associated skid structures and platforms, lifting frames, base frames and support steel.

  • Verify skid loading static & dynamic reactions
  • Check structural adequacy of supporting platforms
  • Validate vendor structural information (CG weights loads)
  • Review equipment baseplates foundation pad/skid supports
  • Ensure offshore environmental load conditions are considered
  • Approve structural reinforcement requirements
Brownfield Structural Assessment & Tie-In Engineering
  • Assess existing deck load capacity
  • Review as-built drawings, laser scans & survey data
  • Identify reinforcement needs for increased loads
  • Check space constraints & structural conflicts
  • Ensure safe access & maintenance clearance
  • Review EPC brownfield method statements
  • Verify tie-in locations for new supports and routing
  • Confirm deck rating suitability for compressors/dryers
  • Support safe brownfield execution under SIMOPS and offshore constraints.
Structural Analysis Review & Verification
  • Global & local Finite Element Analysis
  • Deck load & punching shear checks
  • Fatigue analysis (if applicable)
  • Vibration assessments for rotating equipment
  • Impact load/accidental load checks
  • Dynamic load & equipment vibration transmission
  • Wind wave & seismic load evaluation for offshore
  • Ensure all structural calculations meet ADNOC safety factors and design criteria.
3D Model Review & Multidiscipline Integration
  • Equipment placement & support framing
  • Clearances access and maintenance envelopes
  • Structural element clashes with piping/EI/trays
  • Cable tray and piping penetrations
  • Location and routing of additional supports
  • Structural stability & stiffness checks
  • Participate in 30% / 60% / 90% EPC model review sessions.
Lifting Rigging & Installation Engineering
  • Review lifting plans & rigging studies
  • Validate crane capacity rigging points padeyes
  • Review temporary lifting frames or lifting lugs
  • Ensure compliance with offshore lifting standards
  • Verify transport & installation load conditions
  • Support safe mechanical installation offshore.
Structural Safety & Process Integrity Support
  • HAZID HAZOP (structural interface actions) SIMOPS reviews ENVID
  • Fire Protection & Blast Loading (if applicable)
  • Ensure structural integrity is maintained during all phases of EPC.
Review of EPC Structural Deliverables
  • Structural drawings (GAs details reinforcements)
  • Fabrication drawings
  • Welding maps WPS/PQR/NDE requirements
  • Structural MTOs
  • Tie-in support drawings
  • Offshore installation plans
  • Structural demolition & modification drawings
  • Ensure alignment with ADNOC formats and numbering.
QA/QC & Fabrication Oversight
  • Review EPC QCP/ITP for structural fabrication
  • Validate material traceability and weld quality
  • Review NDT plans (UT RT MT PT)
  • Monitor fabrication progress (if required)
  • Approve structural works before delivery offshore
Construction & Commissioning Support (Structural Discipline)
  • Structural element installation guidance
  • Field modifications and clash resolution
  • Punch-list preparation and closure
  • Verification of structural stability after installation
  • As-built validation & final acceptance
Documentation Reporting & Compliance
  • Maintain structural discipline registers (load sheets, analyses, GA tracking)
  • Review weekly EPC progress and structural updates
  • Track TQs deviations, NCRs & change requests
  • Ensure full compliance with ADNOC document control requirements
  • Verify final as-built structural documentation
