A leading engineering services firm in UAE is looking for a Lead Electrical Designer with over 15 years of experience in project execution within the Oil and Gas sector. The ideal candidate should possess a diploma in Electrical Engineering and be proficient in AutoCAD and other engineering tools. Qualifications

  • At least 15 years of experience in brownfield Electrical modifications for Oil and Gas.
  • Experience managing a team of designers and design reviews.
  • Experience with Electrical design deliverables and vendor package drawing reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical electrical design solutions for various projects.
  • Supervise design personnel and manage work allocation.
  • Prepare and ensure compliance of drawings to standards.

Skills

Knowledge of applicable electrical industry design standards

Job description

We currently have an opportunity for Lead Electrical Designer. This position is a direct hire and based UAE.

Job Purpose

To provide technical and cost-effective electrical design solutions, in compliance with regulatory, local, and international standards for onshore/offshore greenfield and brownfield projects to support Company goals and aspirations.

Key Accountabilities
  • Responsible for design personnel, supervision, workload allocation and delivery in conjunction with Lead Electrical Engineer/Senior Electrical Engineers.
  • Preparation of drawings and other deliverables to Approved for Construction (AFC) status, such as single line diagrams, schematics and wiring, cable supports and routing, lighting and small power, material take-offs, cable schedules and installation details.
  • Serve as a mentor to less experienced Design and Engineering personnel within the discipline.
  • Attend project meetings and discussions, recognise, and communicate scope changes to Planning and Project Engineers.
  • Assist Engineering personnel in drawing retrieval, design, implementation and drawing queries.
  • Travel to Offshore and Onshore facilities for design surveys and provide input into resultant survey reports.
  • Interpret vendor documentation and data to include in design deliverables.
  • Adherence to Company procedures and standards.
  • Responsible for as-building and maintaining Asset Drawings / Records for discipline deliverables as per Company procedures.
  • Estimate and schedule Electrical Design scopes of work.
  • Ensure quality in design, technical accuracy in preparation of drawing and material quantities.
  • Plan assigned work efficiently and obtain/provide information consulting with Lead Discipline Engineers and Project Engineers.
Educational Qualifications

Diploma qualification or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Electrical Engineering.

Experience Profile
  • 15 years in project execution of brownfield Electrical modifications for Oil and Gas industry; Concept, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), and Detail Design.
  • Experience in managing a team of designers and being responsible for all design review and associated activities.
  • Experience in communications among other engineering disciplines.
  • Experience in preparation of cost, time, and resource plans.
  • Experience in preparation of all types of Electrical design deliverables.
  • Experience in review of vendor package drawings.
Competencies/Skills/Others
  • Knowledge of applicable electrical industry design standards.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD 2D & 3D, Navisworks, Excel and Word.
  • Knowledge of site-based working involving field engineering and construction.
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated and demonstrate initiative.
  • Take ownership of issues and follow them through to completion.
  • Willingness to interact directly with people.
  • Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Work in an organised and structured fashion, and within time constraints.
