The role involves tracking and analyzing raw material markets, requiring at least 5 years of relevant experience. Qualifications

Job Title: Junior Commodity Analyst

Job Summary

The Junior Commodity Analyst supports the Commodity Analysis team in tracking and analyzing raw material markets. This includes commodities such as sugar, rice, ground nut, sesame edible oils etc. As we expands into new product lines and geographies the scope of the role may also evolve. The role involves assisting in market monitoring collecting supply and demand data and preparing clear reports for internal stakeholders. The candidate is expected to bring at least 5 years of experience in S&D analysis of agricultural commodities and have good communication skills. Experience with sesame and/or rice would be an added advantage.

Main Responsibilities

Accountability

  • Assist in collecting and updating data related to commodity supply demand and pricing trends.
  • Support in building and maintaining fundamental commodity models and databases.
  • Continuously monitor relevant market news.
  • Actively network with relevant market participants (external) to aid information gathering.
  • Contribute to periodic internal reports.
  • Help prepare presentations and reports for internal teams and management.
  • Assist in evaluating data sources and maintaining data accuracy.
  • Respond to requests from senior analysts and management for data or research.
  • Learn and apply frameworks for commodity analysis gradually building independent analytical capabilities.
Key Relationships

Relationship

  • Internal: Commodity Analyst – Receive guidance share data and contribute to research projects.
  • Internal: Trading & Sourcing Teams – Share timely updates on market movements and reports.
  • External: Industry Networks – Begin developing awareness of market trends through exposure to trade circles.
Role Dimensions

Decision Making: No independent decision-making authority. Provides analytical support to senior staff.

Budget / Expenditure: No budget responsibilities.

Job Requirements

Required qualifications

Minimum: Bachelors degree in International Trade Economics Agriculture or a related field.

Preferred qualifications

Prior experience tracking specific commodities (rice and/or sesame) is an added advantage.

Required experience

5 years of experience in market research trading or financial/commodity analysis (internships acceptable).

Preferred experience

  • Professional experience in S&D tracking and price forecasting of agricultural commodities.
  • Exposure to Excel-based modeling or data analytics tools.
Knowledge & Skills

Commodity Market Fundamentals – Basic understanding of how supply demand and global factors affect commodity prices.

Data Collection & Validation – Ability to collect clean and validate large datasets from various sources.

Excel and Analytical Tools – Familiarity with Excel for modeling and basic proficiency in analytical tools like Power BI or Python.

Economic and Market Research – Understanding of key economic indicators and how they relate to commodity trends.

Communication Skills – Ability to convey the findings of analysis through reports and presentations.
