Job Purpose
The IT Cloud Specialist is an information technology (IT) professional that leads the design, analysis, implementation, maintenance and ongoing support for company software and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems databases hosted on‑premises and on Oracle Cloud. The position will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrade and performance tuning of Oracle and MS SQL Server and other databases within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and on‑premises. You will be responsible for managing the Oracle cloud infrastructure and all applications and databases on OCI and on‑premises. You will work closely with development teams to support multiple environments and ensure database availability, security and performance. The role also includes managing ongoing business change requests to application functionalities such as defining users, enabling data distribution on database levels, and developing and maintaining database architectures, security implementations, backups, high availability, reliability and efficiency. The IT Cloud Specialist will also be instrumental in the design and implementation of cross‑system integrations.
Job Description
- Experience in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server database installation, upgrade, configuration, maintenance, cloning, patching and troubleshooting, and Oracle EBS 12.2 application maintenance, cloning, upgrade and patching.
- Managed and optimized OCI resources, architecture and workloads to ensure cost‑efficiency and performance.
- Implemented security best practices to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of data on OCI.
- Conducted performance tuning and capacity planning to optimize OCI resources.
- Participated in disaster recovery planning and testing for OCI environments.
- Provided users database integration support on ERP systems and databases.
- Created and maintained reliable application hosting environments (on‑premises and on OCI) in close coordination with system administrators.
- Ensured IT Service Desk tickets assigned to yourself were closed within SLAs, avoiding escalations.
- Performed out‑of‑hours visits (possibly on weekends) to sites or data centers for maintenance activities or troubleshooting as required by the IT department.
- Ensured a successful change management process was in place and followed.
- Ensured IT processes were followed and request forms for services were properly filled, processed and filed.
- Ensured customer satisfaction was of a high standard and any escalations were resolved in a professional manner, satisfactory to the business/users as appropriate.
- Assisted and participated in innovation and standardization initiatives and documentation required.
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology
- Certification & experience in Oracle EBS Apps DBA, MS SQL Server DBA & Oracle Cloud architecture
- Oracle DBA certified professional and Oracle cloud architect (Preferred)
- 5 years experience as an Oracle Apps DBA, Microsoft SQL Server DBA with proven hands‑on experience in database administration and testing methodologies, integrations and data mapping activities.
- Oracle cloud infrastructure architect with sound experience of managing independently. Minimum 2 project implementations of database upgrade.
- Must have experience in PL/SQL, queries, shell scripts, procedures/packages, API, etc.
- Hands‑on experience working with database integrations with other databases.
- Solid capabilities of managing application and database security and licensing requirements.
- An advantage would be previous exposure to Airline ERP systems.
- Graduate Oracle EBS Apps DBA, MS SQL Server DBA & Oracle Cloud architecture experience
- Oracle DBA certified professional and Oracle cloud architect (Preferred)
