The successful candidate will support the MENAT Head of Islamic Finance, within the CIB Islamic Finance team. The role holder will be integrally involved in a broad range of activities, working with MENAT stakeholders to proactively advance the Islamic finance business, agenda and governance in MENAT.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide support to the MENAT Head of Islamic finance in the implementation & execution of strategy for the business for the CIB business line
- Support and implement specific strategic projects for the business
- Support the business management of the business, with a focus data & analytics to review & optimize revenues and facilitate business reviews and management decisions
- Assist with the governance of the business and drafting of papers to Excos and RMMs on a regular basis.
- Provide support to business teams in the execution of Islamic finance transactions & work with 2LoD and operations to ensure the successful execution of Islamic finance transactions
- Monitoring performance against annual plans and budgets (including headcount)
- Monitoring of execution of Islamic finance transactions in CIB against the Islamic finance risk dashboard
- Accountability for ensuring effective governance structures is in place
- Understanding of the HSBC Group and its strategy, structures, and processes
- Knowledge of Islamic finance structures, documentation and how transactions are executed.
- Knowledge of the regional external environment - regulatory, political, competitor and market
- Knowledge of HOST – functionally, operationally and financially
Experience & Qualifications:
- Graduation degree is REQUIRED– to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit
- Understanding of Islamic finance, its structures and its applications
- Ability to learn and process new Islamic finance structures across the various business lines
- Ability to navigate legal documentation pertaining to Sukuk
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint experience
- Very strong interpersonal and communication skills with capacity to work with and influence senior teams, and the ability to interact at all levels of the organization
- Exceptional organizational, planning and prioritization skills
- Practical experience of major business transformation with project management experience
- Ideally both front and back-office experience within a Global Banking environment
- Robust appreciation of potential risks relating to credit, deal execution, operations and internal control, with strong understanding of risk management and risk mitigation
- Understanding of the HSBC Group and its strategy, structures and processes
- Knowledge of the regional external environment - regulatory, political, competitor and market
