Tile Mason Job Description

The Tile Mason is accountable for the installation and arrangement of tiles made from various materials such as ceramic, porcelain, marble, granite or glass. This role involves preparing surfaces, precise tile placement, grouting, cutting and finishing tasks to achieve a professional appearance and long‑lasting quality.

Primary Responsibilities

• Evaluate and prepare surfaces for tiling including cleaning, leveling and waterproofing
• Measure and mark surfaces for tile layout
• Utilize hand or power tools to cut tiles to fit around obstacles and edges
• Mix and apply adhesives like thin‑set mortar
• Lay tiles in the desired pattern with accuracy and consistent spacing
• Apply grout between tiles and clean the completed surfaces
• Repair or replace damaged tiles
• Ensure adherence to safety standards and client specifications

Requirements

• Proficiency in using tiling tools such as tile cutters, spacers, trowels and levels
• 1 year of working experience as a Tile Mason
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
• Ability to interpret blueprints or layout designs
• Physical stamina and strength for tasks like working on knees and lifting tiles
