Job summary

A leading engineering firm in the United Arab Emirates is seeking an experienced Erection & Testing Engineer. In this role, you will supervise the erection and installation of power transformers and shunt reactors, conduct various electrical tests, and ensure compliance with safety standards. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a TAQA Competent Person Certification, with 8–10 years of relevant experience and strong knowledge of IEC / IEEE standards. UAE project experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8–10 years' experience in transformer & reactor erection/testing.
• Strong knowledge of testing including Insulation Resistance (IR), Winding Resistance, etc.
• UAE project experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise erection and installation of power transformers and shunt reactors.
• Review OEM manuals, method statements, and inspection test plans (ITPs).
• Conduct and witness testing including various electrical tests.
• Coordinate with client, TAQA inspectors, and OEM representatives.
• Ensure compliance with TAQA safety rules and permit systems.
• Prepare test reports, checklists, and commission dossiers.
• Support energization and handover activities.

Overview

The Erection & Testing Engineer shall be responsible for supervision, erection, testing, and pre-commissioning of power transformers and reactors in accordance with TAQA, OEM, and project specifications.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise erection and installation of power transformers and shunt reactors
• Review OEM manuals, method statements, and inspection test plans (ITPs)
• Conduct and witness testing including Insulation Resistance (IR), Winding Resistance, Ratio & Vector Group, SFRA, Tan Delta, Magnetization (as applicable)
• Coordinate with client, TAQA inspectors, and OEM representatives
• Ensure compliance with TAQA safety rules and permit systems
• Prepare test reports, checklists, and commission dossiers
• Support energization and handover activities

Key Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering
• TAQA Competent Person Certification – Mandatory
• Minimum 8–10 years\' experience in transformer & reactor erection/testing
• Strong knowledge of IEC / IEEE standards
• UAE project experience preferred
