Job description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate English Lead to join our Secondary team from August 2025. The successful candidate will lead the English department with a focus on GCSE curriculum delivery curriculum innovation and student achievement. This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary educator to make a lasting impact within a dynamic international school community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure high-quality teaching and learning across the department aligned with GCSE standards
  • Mentor and support English teachers through coaching peer observations and professional development
  • Use data effectively to monitor student progress and drive improvement
  • Promote literacy across the curriculum and develop strategies to raise attainment
  • Oversee departmental assessments moderation and internal/external exam preparation
  • Contribute to whole-school leadership initiatives and strategic planning
  • Foster a positive collaborative team culture within the English department
Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor s degree in English English Literature or a related field
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE . QTS)
  • Minimum 4 years teaching experience including IGCSE/GCSE English (A Level experience is a plus)
  • Proven leadership or middle management experience in a school setting
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and exam board requirements
  • Excellent communication interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Experience in leading or contributing to curriculum development and staff training
  • ADEK approval or eligibility is advantageous
