Job Objective
  • Definition and approval of technical scopes
  • Execute assigned scopes of work
  • Provide discipline expertise to the business as a technical authority where assigned
  • Contribute to business growth with technical guidance and innovation
  • Lead design reviews and manage technical reviews for complex projects within area of expertise
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
  • Establish scope of work for projects or proposals, allocating and directing staff
  • Develop and implement procedures, methods and controls to be used within design and execution phases
  • Develop design solutions to deliver products, equipment and materials of the highest standard
  • Direct scheduling, cost control and technical conformance during the design phase of projects
  • Coordinate activities with other groups and clients to promote continuous improvement of discipline procedures
  • Participate in incident investigations and design constraint establishment
  • Prepare engineering development proposals and feasibility studies for new or modified components and processes
  • Lead design reviews, track metrics and report progress relative to plans
  • Exercise technical authority over professional personnel and provide technical reviews for complex projects
  • Support business development through engagement, relationship building and identification of opportunities for expansion of scope of work
  • Manage and supervise tasks delegated to direct reports, providing technical guidance and coaching less experienced staff
  • Ensure compliance with HSSE leadership and site safety requirements
Working Relationships
  • Develop productive, collaborative relationships of trust within and across offices and regions
  • Engage with inter‑discipline community and promote discipline knowledge sharing
  • Build cross‑functional relationships to gain support and frequently provide external technical advice
  • Communicate and cooperate with external stakeholders including industry bodies, academia and vendors
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers and influence their decisions

  • Minimum of 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Requires supervisory experience and understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation and health and safety
  • Ability to manage resources (personnel, equipment, materials) and inspire and motivate a team
  • Ingenuity and initiative to coordinate problem resolution and execute schedule requirements within a team environment
  • Effective communication skills with proficiency in technical writing and comprehensive documentation
  • Expert knowledge in more than one specialised field and broad knowledge of several related disciplines within the function
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards, specifications, engineering and construction practices
  • Advanced knowledge of regulatory framework and associated legislation
  • Excellent technical writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in scope definition
  • Previous experience working in the Middle East would be an advantage
  • Experience in flare networks, produced water systems, firewater systems and prior exposure to refinery environments would be a strong advantage
  • Good knowledge of the various business units, functions and services offered within Wood business area and ability to connect internal stakeholders
