About the Job
The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:
- The role holder is responsible for supporting the head of Risk Management & BCM in the delivery and execution of insurance risk management policies and strategies, ensuring alignment with the organization’s strategic goals and internal operational requirements.
- All three elements are critical and assist in providing assurance that DHAM’s investment mandates will be met and assets appropriately safeguarded.
Insurance
- Ensure appropriate insurance cover exists across DHAM by liaising with the designated broker, ensuring policies are in place for all DHAM activities and associated risks.
- Manage DHAM’s annual insurance budgeting and policy renewal process, including invoicing and premium payments; act as the focal point for liaison with the insurance broker.
- Ensure that all DHAM requirements are addressed in a timely manner by the broker and all broker and market requests are dealt with efficiently, including the annual insurance renewal process.
- Collaborate with relevant departments on insurance claims and needs.
- Manage insurance claims to ensure they are tracked, communicated, and escalated as needed.
- Ensure insurance needs, strategy and risk and loss control measures through insurance portfolio reviews, understanding of business operations and changes and periodic review of third‑party contractual insurance.
Risk Management Framework
- Support in driving the design and development of a comprehensive risk management and business continuity strategy and framework that mitigates market, counter‑party and operational risks across all functions.
- Develop enterprise risk management policies, procedures, processes and templates for risk identification, assessment, and evaluation to ensure a standardized response to risk issues, in line with the documented risk appetite and tolerance statements.
- Ensure the risk framework aligns with DHAM and provide day‑to‑day coordination to facilitate risk identification, assessment, ownership, mitigation and support monitoring of enterprise risks (strategic, operational, financial and compliance risks).
- Prepare regular, formal and ad‑hoc reports on the risk program to provide timely and accurate information to senior management, highlighting significant risk and contributing to risk‑intelligent decision‑making.
- Conduct risk assessment workshops with Business Units and Corporate Departments to identify and mitigate risk; support integration of this process into local management operations.
- Provide risk‑based training to management colleagues to promote integration and create a risk‑intelligent decision‑making culture.
- Assist in achieving external certifications in Enterprise Risk Management (ISO 31000) and Business Continuity Management (ISO 23001).
- Maintain and update Corporate and Business Unit risk registers, ensuring risks are documented and mitigated; work closely with senior management to obtain timely sign‑off of mitigations.
- Develop and maintain core enterprise risk management tools and measurement methodologies for risk monitoring that align with best practices.
Business Continuity Management
- Maintain and update BCM Business Impact Analyses and the wider Business Continuity Management framework, including Threat Risk Assessments and Business Continuity Plans.
- Develop and implement a business continuity plan testing strategy; manage the execution of the plan annually to ensure robust business response to BCM events.
- Develop and implement BCM training plans across the business and implement mitigation strategies where risk areas are identified.
Continual Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in developing an organization‑wide risk management culture through effective governance, communication, change management and controls development.
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting, Risk Management or related field preferred.
- MBA in Business Management preferred.
- Professional risk management qualification from a recognized certification body (e.g., Institute of Risk Management).
- Minimum 3-4 years of professional risk management and insurance experience within a corporate environment.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing corporate risk management frameworks.
- Expert-level assessment and mitigation of market, strategic, financial, operational and governance risk.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, facilitation and influencing skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to identify and prioritize key issues while building consensus across stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and judgment abilities supported by expert knowledge of current risk management techniques, frameworks, and methodologies.
- A broad operational perspective and proven ability to develop practical solutions to complex business risk issues.
