What this job involves

We are looking for a Cost Manager to work on post-contract commercial aspects of construction projects. The role involves cost control contract administration and providing commercial advice to ensure project financial objectives are met.

What your day-to-day will look like
  • Lead the post-contract commercial management of multiple construction projects ensuring they are delivered within budget
  • Prepare and manage interim valuations variations and final accounts
  • Analyze and negotiate contractual claims providing recommendations to minimize financial risk
  • Perform detailed cost analysis and reporting tracking project costs against budgets
  • Administer construction contracts in accordance with applicable standards (JCT NEC FIDIC etc.)
  • Liaise with clients contractors and project stakeholders to resolve commercial issues
  • Provide commercial advice to project teams and senior management
  • Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors
  • Identify and implement value engineering opportunities
  • Maintain accurate records of all commercial transactions and correspondence
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying Commercial Management or related field
  • Professional membership with RICS or equivalent professional body
  • Minimum 7 years post-qualification experience with significant post-contract exposure ideally in hospitality projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard forms of construction contracts
  • Experience in managing complex variations and claims
  • Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills
Desired or preferred experience and technical skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen
  • Proficient in construction measurement and cost control software
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy
