Job summary

A leading hotel group in Dubai is looking for a Commis I to join their culinary team at the Flying Elephant. The ideal candidate will assist in food preparation, maintain hygiene standards, and support the kitchen staff. A high school diploma is required, with preference given to those with culinary training. Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine, teamwork skills, and the ability to work under pressure are essential. Join our culinary team as a Commis I at the Flying Elephant in Novotel & Adagio Premium Dubai Al Barsha! We’re seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to support our kitchen operations and contribute to creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests.

  • Assist in food preparation including washing, peeling, chopping and cutting ingredients
  • Follow recipes and cooking instructions as directed by senior kitchen staff
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station adhering to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Properly store and rotate food items to minimize waste and ensure freshness
  • Assist in plating and presentation of dishes
  • Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations during service
  • Perform basic cooking tasks under the supervision of experienced chefs
  • Help with inventory management and restocking supplies as needed
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning and maintenance tasks
  • Learn and adapt to new culinary techniques and recipes
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school diploma or certificate preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Indian cuisine and cooking techniques
  • Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to use standard kitchen equipment and tools safely and efficiently
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
