Job Description
Project Start Up and Live Project Support
  • Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and execution of contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors at the early stages of a new project. Ensure that all contracts are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and Besix corporate governance rules.
  • Identify and support the mitigation of commercial risks associated with all construction projects. Provide expert advice and support to the various project commercial teams to develop and implement commercial and contractual strategies that manage and minimize potential risks and optimise opportunities.
  • Lead the procurement process on start-up projects, including the selection and negotiation of contracts with suppliers and subcontractors. Ensure that procurement activities align with project timelines and budgets as well as with Besix PMP and standards.
  • Build relationships with clients and other stakeholders to allow effective participation in projects as and when required.
  • Provide mentorship to young staff members, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and legal requirements. Prepare and present regular commercial reports to senior management in coordination with the Head of Contract & Commercial Management.
  • Provide short term leave cover to live projects where required. This short term and adhoc responsibility demand familiarity with all projects, their clients, and the major subjects of the day so that adequate support can be provided with minimal handover or disruption to the project.
Legacy Project Close Out
  • Provide expert advice and support to legacy and closing projects to ensure we maximise opportunities including successful close out of subcontractors and suppliers within set budget goals.
  • Negotiate with clients to settle legacy projects and major claims / disputes to ensure all payments are received and any other contractual or commercial matters (such as bond recovery) are timeously resolved.
  • Support the Project Close Out Manager with commercial and contractual assistance and advice when required.
  • Liaise with senior management and the Head of Contract & Commercial Management to flag any high risk matters as early as possible and recommend strategies for resolution.
