Job summary

A global consulting firm is currently seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join its team in Sharjah, UAE. This role focuses on Engineering Design & Detailing for Oil and Gas projects. Candidates should have a B.Sc. in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least 5 years of experience in the field. The position is full-time and requires a strong understanding of design standards and hands-on experience with relevant software. The ideal candidate will meet the health, safety, and quality systems standards as defined by the company.

Wood is currently recruiting for a Civil/Structural Engineer to join its UAE business unit focusing on Engineering Design & Detailing of Civil & Structural works of Oil and Gas projects. This is a full-time onsite position in Sharjah, UAE on 5/2 work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Specialist Engineer in Engineering Design & Detailing of Civil & Structural works of Oil and Gas projects
  • Must have hands-on experience in design of rotating equipment/dynamic foundation
  • Experience in developing specification and design basis
  • Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes (specially American codes), Standards, Regulations and Procedures
  • Must have worked in STAAD / Foundation Design Suite software in Analysis & Design
  • Hands on experience on model review in Navisworks/SP3D / E3D / PDS / PDMS platform is must
  • Experience on preparation of the design calculation through Excel spreadsheets will be a plus
  • Achieve safety standards as defined in personal performance contract
  • Be responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance
  • Carry out work in accordance with Wood and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems
  • Maintain the required technical quality of work
  • Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
  • Maintain planning and cost control on all scopes; provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel as required
  • Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule
  • Keep up to date with technical developments, National and International standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline scope
  • Review, prepare, check and/or approve work output of discipline assigned personnel
  • Prepare estimates and schedules and assist in their review
  • Maintain good communication with the client
  • Maintain discipline filing system
  • Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project
