Summary
Ensures that the Group’s port and logistics facilities operate efficiently and safely, and achieve top productivity levels to maintain customer satisfaction and enhance the Company’s reputation for world‑class performance levels.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility of the Group’s port operations.
- Managing performance at the Group’s terminals, both local and international to ensure that the highest levels of productivity are attained and performance benchmarks are met or exceeded, and initiates appropriate action when standards are not met.
- Ensures that all Business Units deliver to the Company’s expectations and values.
- Develops operational strategy with the Business Unit heads and assists in developing solid relationships with authorities, local government, and stakeholders.
- Creates positive relationships with all port users/clients, such as the Shipping Lines, and governmental agencies, thereby establishing a solid customer retention base.
- Assures that the Business Unit complies with Company Policy, standards, processes, and guidelines.
- Liaises with customers to monitor their developments and ensure that Terminals remain fully capable of top‑class performance in a changing environment.
- Leads regular Operation meetings with all Business Unit heads to ensure all aspects of Terminal operations are monitored and worked efficiently.
- Continuously motivates, supports, and harnesses the entire Operations Team towards the goals and objectives of GT as echoed in the Company’s Vision and Mission.
- Systematically trains the entire Port Operations Team with regard to the technical and non‑technical aspects of their work, exposes those high‑potential Operations Team players to special projects, and works out the succession planning by way of effective training on the job.
- Liaises with the Engineering Management to decide on Equipment procurement at all Group facilities within budget guidelines.
- Liaises with Engineering Management to ensure all planned maintenance schedules are adhered to and for the quick and effective supply of spares as required to return equipment to Operations efficiently.
- Makes certain that all Terminal activities are always conducted in a professional and safe manner.
- Liaises with Group Training and Safety Management to ensure Training schedules are maintained and that the Group facilities always operate in a safe manner.
- Effectively coordinates with all concerned with regards to Terminal Operation System and Billing Systems, ensuring that all data requirements by Billing and Finance are provided by Operations within the prescribed time.
- Responsible for the Performance Management and development of all team members.
- Provide support to the Projects Department as required.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Educational Background
B.Sc./B.A. Degree or equivalent in any subject or sea‑going experience to senior level, a master’s degree in marine engineering is preferable
Technical Qualification / Certification
Port‑related qualification is preferable
Related Work Experience
Minimum of 20 years of extensive experience in shipping, ports, and transport‑related industries
