The opportunity

Boehringer Ingelheim is hiring a Regional Pets Business Segment Head (BSH) for India, Middle East, Türkiye and Africa (IMETA) region responsible for the translation of the global PETS strategy into a regional strategic implementation plan, and tactical plans in collaboration with the Country Heads. The BSH aligns activities with the Global Strategic Marketing team for PETS, and guides IMETA OPUs (Operating Units). As part of the Animal Health leadership team, the BSH contributes to the development of the Animal Health Business Plan.

This role will be based in Dubai, UAE, and reports to the IMETA Head of Animal Health.

Role & responsibilities
Strategy translation
  • Directs the regional PETS strategy translation with OPU Business Heads and stakeholders, ensuring regional alignment. Ensures cross-functional collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and Regulatory for developing and implementing strategic plans, annual objectives, and budgets for the segment.
  • Contributes to the regional business plan and budget development while upholding corporate standards, policies, compliance, and ethical business practices.
Segment performance
  • Evaluate market performance to ensure optimal management of the regional PETS business, aligning geographical priorities and identifying emerging trends and growth opportunities.
  • Advise the Animal Health Head on potential risks and opportunities, recommending mitigation strategies such as resource reallocation, and collaborates with OPU teams for effective implementation.
Segment Plan Implementation
  • Participate in OPU review meetings, monitor tactical plan execution and market performance, advise on corrective actions, and track key strategic projects to maximize outcomes within the PETS segment.
Launch Excellence
  • Evaluate opportunities for new product introductions, ensure strategic projects and launches achieve critical mass through coordination with the Regional Business Unit, and guides OPU execution in close collaboration with the OPU Heads and Technical/Marketing teams.
Segment expertise
  • Provide strategic guidance on segment-related technical and marketing matters, drives technical capability development within PETS teams, promotes best practice sharing, and builds strong networks with key thought leaders and associations to enhance segment understanding.
Leadership & collaboration
  • Foster a collaborative environment and partner closely with Regional Marketing to ensure effective development and implementation of the global business strategy.
Requirements
  • Bachelor\'s degree; MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • 10+ years in management, marketing or sales, including 7+ years in leadership roles.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in Sales & Marketing; international exposure preferred. Familiarity with Animal Health market specifically on Pets and key thought leaders valued.
  • Languages: Fluency in English required; Arabic and French are preferred.
  • Skills: Strategic marketing, cross-functional collaboration, and customer-focused innovation.
  • Strong decision-making, negotiation, and stakeholder relationship management.
  • Advanced computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
