A construction company in Ras al-Khaimah is seeking an experienced Backhoe Operator to manage excavation and roadwork tasks. Qualifications

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Operate backhoe loader for excavation, trenching, backfilling, leveling, and loading works as per site instructions.
• Carry out works related to drainage lines, culverts, cable trenches, foundations, and road formation.
• Ensure accurate digging to required levels, slopes, and alignments as per drawings and instructions.
• Coordinate closely with the Site Foreman and Surveyor during excavation works.
• Follow all site safety rules, HSE policies, and toolbox talk instructions.
• Conduct daily pre start checks of the equipment and report any defects immediately.
• Ensure safe operation near utilities, traffic, pedestrians, and other site activities.
• Use PPE at all times as per company and project safety requirements.
• Maintain the backhoe loader in clean and working condition.
• Perform basic routine maintenance checks such as oil, hydraulic fluid, fuel, and tire condition.
• Report breakdowns or abnormal machine behavior promptly to avoid downtime.
• Do not operate equipment with known safety defects.
• Follow daily work plans and instructions given by the Site Foreman or Project Engineer.
• Assist other site activities when required within skill limits.
• Maintain proper communication with ground workers and signal.

Skills

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience as a Backhoe Operator in road and infrastructure projects.
• Experience in UAE road works, drainage, utilities, or infrastructure projects preferred.
• Valid UAE Heavy Equipment Operator License for backhoe loader.
• Third category driving license or equivalent as per UAE traffic regulations.
• Good understanding of excavation safety and underground utility protection.
• Ability to read basic site drawings and level markings with guidance.
• Basic knowledge of machine operation and safety procedures.
• Physically fit to work in outdoor and high temperature conditions.
