Job Objective
The Technician III - Avionics is responsible for conducting D Level Maintenance Operations, such as troubleshooting, rectification, systems installation and modification, retrofits, and upgrades of avionics equipment installation (within own Trade) ONLY to the level granted by the Authorization Codes listed on the post holder's AMMROC Form 35.
Key Accountabilities
- Receives and fully understands all requirements for the maintenance task as briefed by the Supervisor.
- Obtains, reads and understands the correct Technical Data required for the maintenance task.
- Carries out maintenance tasks that have been authorized to be conducted in the post holder's own trade unless exceptionally authorized by QA and annotated on F35.
- Receives a full maintenance task Safety Brief from the Supervisor.
- Ensures pre and post run inspections are conducted as necessary.
- Carries out an FOD check of the work area before starting maintenance task.
- Coordinates daily work assignments and completes priorities as assigned.
- Keeps the Supervisor informed of any interruptions and potential delays.
- Performs cMRO related activities as required.
- Returns all tools , spare parts, Technical Data, test equipment, and consumables to the areas from which they were obtained, and signs them in correctly.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and environmental management policies and procedures.
- Communicates with the supervisor as required during the course of each shift and provides updates and status as events unfold.
- Provides clear and concise status reports of all work performed on avionics components as required.
- Accurately maintains work documents as directed by procedures/processes.
- Effectively uses OEM and other maintenance manuals, in addition to interpreting aircraft avionics components blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Obtains the correct PPE to complete the maintenance task safely.
- Obtains the correct tools for the maintenance task.
- Obtains the correct test equipment and torque wrenches for the maintenance task, ensuring they are all within calibration date.
- Obtains the correct consumables for the maintenance task and controls them at all times.
- Obtains the correct spare part(s) for the maintenance task ensuring that a conditioning label is attached, confirming item serviceability.
- Reports to Supervisor and provides a full brief on the work carried out to complete the maintenance task.
- Assists Supervisor with aircraft systems and avionics component fault finding in own trade.
- Performs QC signatory authority as applicable.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the Maintenance Operations at the Facility to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality aircraft maintenance service and a responsible environmental attitude.
- Carries out On the Job training of personnel as required.
- Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME).
- Coordinates maintenance plans and schedules to meet operational commitments.
- Performs task distribution for the trade.
- Performs conditioning of equipment as serviceable/unserviceable as applicable.
- Serves as trained and authorized QC and authorized CoC signatory.
- Serves as Trade in-charge and responsible for complete team performance including attendance, leave planning, etc.
- Sponsors opportunities to take part in change initiatives, programs and projects that reflect international best practices and changes in the competitive environment.
- Performs other related duties or assignments as directed.
- Make sure all supporting technicians properly book the task cards in cMRO.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience
- Technical Engineering/ Diploma (Electrical, Electronics and communication or Avionics) or Level 7 Certified Technician
- Minimum of 5 years of experience within aviation maintenance, ideally in a military aircraft MRO facility>
- Deep knowledge of military or civil aircraft avionics systems (Electrical, Instrument, Autopilot, Communication, and Navigation)
