Overview

Bank ABC seeks to recruit an Assistant Relationship Manager, Corporate Coverage in the DIFC Office based in the UAE.

The Assistant Relationship Manager will be responsible to:

  • Assist in portfolio management and creation of detailed Credit Applications and Strategic Transaction Summaries inclusive of - comprehensive analysis of new credit requests, amendment requests and annual reviews. The incumbent should have strong credit structuring and analytical skills. Basic understanding of Islamic banking and relevant sharia compliant products will be an advantage.
  • Monitor and manage allotted account portfolios on a continuous basis and assist in minimizing risks (including but not limited to Credit, market, compliance and reputational risks).
  • Assist in developing, converting new relationships and manage existing relationships with the RM / SRM/UH.
  • Have working knowledge and practical experience of deal structuring, trade finance, cash management and basic treasury products. Experience of having some experience with syndicated transactions would be an added advantage.
  • Be cognizant of business objectives and unit targets to ensure achievement of all product mix for all relationships as per the KPIs.
  • Prepare briefing memos/call reports for senior management meetings in addition to various industry/ad hoc reports.
  • Manage client communication for day-to-day operations and liaise with internal and external legal counsel for existing and new clients.
  • Identifying potential business opportunities which fit ABC’s credit & risk appetite.
  • Actively seeking referrals from existing customers for other Business Units within ABC Network.
  • Planning account relationship plans to generate new business and cross sell along with the RM / SRM/ UH.
  • Update oneself on the bank’s products, credit standards and trends and provide efficient customer services.
  • Coordinate with the banks other departments (Operations, Treasury, Credit etc.) in order to ensure that the client is serviced efficiently and in a professional manner.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping including documentation renewal, audit/GAQR preparedness and chasing up and obtaining OOO items.
  • Ensure portfolio compliance with regulatory bodies (DFSA and CBB)
Responsibilities of the role

Reporting to the Unit Head, the job holder will be responsible for:

Credit Related:

  • Preparation for all new and existing deals as and when required of various types of Credit Applications and related summary term sheets to include but not limited to the following:
  • Timely preparation of Credit Application Forms for new to bank clients as well as renewal of existing ones.
  • To create credit spreads from financial statements including credit risk scoring
  • RAROC
  • RAC sheets
  • Other supporting documents leading to the preparation of the STS for new clients and transactions.
  • Credit application for formal credit approval.
  • Structuring of credit facilities and related transactions
  • Earmarking of limits and subsequent reinstatement or lapsing (as appropriate).
  • Ensuring SDCR and NNC are issued on time for disbursals

Other Credit related:

  • Raising of waiver requests stemming from deviations to bank policies, standards and procedures (e.g., Wholesale Banking Policy, Credit Policy and standards, Credit / Legal Documentation Policy etc.) approved conditions and covenants (includes conditions precedent and subsequent).
  • Ensuring Facility and Security documentation are prepared in accordance with credit approvals, Credit/Legal Documentation policy and Department procedures. This will include liaising with internal and external legal counsels as well as the client.
  • Ensuring follow-up and satisfaction of conditions precedent and subsequent to facility utilization – management of Out of Order Report “OOO”.
  • Others:
  • Ensuring follow-up and satisfaction of audit, credit and asset quality review comments on credit applications.
  • Contribute to developing and implement agreed actions under customer strategies.
  • Identify targets and realize new share of wallet opportunities through provision of new products and services.
  • Undertake call and care visits under the structured/ agreed plan with the UH/Country SEO.
  • Provide superior customer service exceeding customer expectations.
  • Actively seeking referrals from existing customers for other Business Units within ABC Network.
  • Building and maintaining a portfolio-wide database to capture the day-to-day management of Approval conditions and agreed covenants.
  • Ensure customer records and transaction are recorded/ processed in a timely and accurate manner
Areas of Knowledge, Qualification and Experience
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years experience in similar function, credit or audit with large regional or global financial institution(s)
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance related major. Masters Degree and professional qualification (such as CFA) is preferred.
  • Ability to solve problems and escalate to higher levels (as appropriate) and get along with people amicably.
  • Good understanding of Wholesale banking products.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Credit, AML and Operations management.
  • Fair working knowledge of Loan Documentation, Syndication Loan Structures, Commercial Contracts, Trade Finance, Credit Risk, KYC and Banking terminology including standard loan covenants.
  • Good background in performing credit analysis of FIs and Corporates operating in different industries and sectors.
  • Solid computer skills with capability to use spreadsheets, graphics and presentation packages to review and create professional materials
