Job summary
A leading auditing firm in South Africa is seeking an Audit Manager for their External Audit Division in Cape Town. The successful candidate will manage audit projects, drive business development, and mentor trainees. With a CA(SA) qualification and 2+ years management experience required, you will ensure exceptional client service and manage audit scopes effectively. Qualifications
- At least 2 years post-article management experience with long-term audit ambitions.
- Experience with listed companies is an advantage.

BDO South Africa has a vacancy for an Audit Manager in our External Audit Division at our Cape Town office.
- Business Development
- Negotiating budgets/fees and overruns for clients once fee base has been agreed with the partner
- Managing WIP, write‑offs, fee queries and debtors
- Ensuring time‑accurate billing of clients
- Accurate and time‑accurate planning of audits
- Management and execution of audits
- Managing staff movements on and off the job and communicating timeously to all relevant parties
- Controlling staff allocations on audit projects
- Ensuring completion and finalisation of audits
- Building effective relationships with clients and staff
- Ensuring exceptional client service
- Deciding on audit appropriateness of audit opinion by resolving issues that may impact the audit opinion and ensuring these are brought to the attention of the engagement partner with proper documentation
- Managing the client to ensure that the project is delivered within the agreed scope
- Mentoring trainees
- Time‑sous completion of performance reviews
- CA(SA)
- At least 2 years post‑article management experience with long‑term audit ambitions (partner/director)
- Experience with listed companies is an advantage
- Strong technical ability
- Extremely high level of attention to detail and analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to relate to clients at executive level
- Sound professional judgement
- Commitment to self‑development and growth through research and relevant courses
- Promotion of teamwork within the audit teams
- Strong planning, organising and control skills
