Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Area Manager to oversee cleaning operations within a designated region. The Area Manager will be responsible for managing a team of cleaners, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and meeting client expectations.

Qualifications
  • Grade 12
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in cleaning, hygiene, and facilities management
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in commercial cleaning or facilities management
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and best practices
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Key Areas of Responsibility
  1. Manage a team of cleaners, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  2. Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
  3. Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures.
  4. Maintain relationships with clients and address concerns promptly.
  5. Monitor supplies and equipment inventory, making necessary orders.
  6. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  7. Provide regular reports to senior management on operations and performance.
Employee Management
  1. Manage subordinates in accordance with sector strategy, contract, and statutory regulations.
  2. Ensure adherence to work standards and company image policies.
  3. Arrange counseling and wellness campaigns.
  4. Monitor and verify employee schedules and manage leave.
  5. Communicate updates and information regularly to employees.
Industrial Relations Support
  1. Maintain discipline and manage grievances.
  2. Prepare contingency plans for strikes.
  3. Conduct staff appraisals.
  4. Manage union relationships.
Recruitment
  1. Source temporary employees in compliance with legislation and policies.
  2. Manage employee headcount and hiring processes.
  3. Ensure onboarding and contractual documentation are completed timely.
Systems and Processes
  1. Ensure timely approval of PRP hours and salary payments.
Site Management
  1. Coordinate transportation and resources to sites.
  2. Perform regular inspections and audits.
  3. Address issues promptly and maintain communication.
  4. Use site management tools and maintain client expenses.
Business Development
  1. Collaborate with contract managers to upsell and build client relationships.
  2. Maintain in-depth knowledge of services and value propositions.
Training & Development
  1. Facilitate various training programs and talent initiatives.
Health & Safety
  1. Complete hazard identifications and risk assessments.
  2. Ensure equipment, uniforms, PPE, and safety data sheets are maintained.
  3. Conduct regular safety talks and staff medicals.
  4. Adhere to waste management procedures.
