We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Area Manager to oversee cleaning operations within a designated region. The Area Manager will be responsible for managing a team of cleaners, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and meeting client expectations.
Qualifications
- Grade 12
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in cleaning, hygiene, and facilities management
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in commercial cleaning or facilities management
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and best practices
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

Key Areas of Responsibility
- Manage a team of cleaners, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure cleanliness standards are met.
- Develop and implement cleaning schedules and procedures.
- Maintain relationships with clients and address concerns promptly.
- Monitor supplies and equipment inventory, making necessary orders.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on operations and performance.
Employee Management
- Manage subordinates in accordance with sector strategy, contract, and statutory regulations.
- Ensure adherence to work standards and company image policies.
- Arrange counseling and wellness campaigns.
- Monitor and verify employee schedules and manage leave.
- Communicate updates and information regularly to employees.
Industrial Relations Support
- Maintain discipline and manage grievances.
- Prepare contingency plans for strikes.
- Conduct staff appraisals.
- Manage union relationships.
Recruitment
- Source temporary employees in compliance with legislation and policies.
- Manage employee headcount and hiring processes.
- Ensure onboarding and contractual documentation are completed timely.
Systems and Processes
- Ensure timely approval of PRP hours and salary payments.
Site Management
- Coordinate transportation and resources to sites.
- Perform regular inspections and audits.
- Address issues promptly and maintain communication.
- Use site management tools and maintain client expenses.
Business Development
- Collaborate with contract managers to upsell and build client relationships.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of services and value propositions.
Training & Development
- Facilitate various training programs and talent initiatives.
Health & Safety
- Complete hazard identifications and risk assessments.
- Ensure equipment, uniforms, PPE, and safety data sheets are maintained.
- Conduct regular safety talks and staff medicals.
- Adhere to waste management procedures.
