A leading financial services company is seeking an Accountant II for a fixed-term contract in Johannesburg, South Africa. The role involves financial reporting, budget preparation, and ensuring compliance with IFRS. The ideal candidate will possess a CA (SA) qualification, have a strong analytical mindset, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. Experience in the insurance industry is a plus. This position offers insight into the financial oversight of the group and requires the ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple tasks.

- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts.

To drive accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting and analysis across all Group entities, ensuring that financial data is not only compliant with relevant standards but also serves as a trusted foundation for strategic decision-making. This role plays a pivotal part in enabling the business to navigate complexities, allocate resources effectively, and identify opportunities for growth through meaningful financial insights and operational transparency.
- CA (SA) qualification
- Newly qualified CA (Insurance industry is an advantage)
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS
- Exposure to IFRS 17 ( is an advantage)
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines
- Reconcile all balance sheet accounts to third‑party documentation
- Resolve outstanding issues promptly
- Assistance with preparation of monthly management accounts and variance commentary
- Assistance with preparation of quarterly board reports for the relevant entities
- Compile annual financial statements in line with IFRS.
- Respond to audit queries and prepare solvency tests where applicable
- Perform ad-hoc tasks to support strategic decision‑making / on‑going projects.
- Automation of key monthly processes.
- Prepare budgets for entities within Group Finance and coordinate with relevant stakeholders throughout the budgeting process
- Develop and deliver budget presentations for Exco and Board meetings
- Provide insightful commentary and input on central costs and revenues, supporting strategic financial planning
- Deliver key management reports to Exco and the Board
- Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and high standards in financial reporting
- Maintain a strong control environment and general ledger integrity
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage deadlines
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word); knowledge of CPM and Great Plains is an advantage
- Confident, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
