Job summary

MidLantic Urology is seeking a detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to coordinate outpatient and hospital-based procedures. You will preauthorise surgeries, review pre-op tests, medications, allergies, and medical history with patients, and enter data accurately into the scheduling system.

You will maintain surgical logs, prepare pre-operative packets, liaise with facilities, and ensure HIPAA compliance while delivering courteous service to patients and referring physicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 1 year scheduling experience in surgery center or medical office.
• Knowledge of EMR and scheduling systems.
• Knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements and patient confidentiality.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and with a team.

Responsibilities

• Schedules office, surgery center and hospital procedures.
• Pre-authorizes surgeries with insurance providers and schedules at designated facilities.
• Maintains a surgical log for statistics.
• Provides pre-operative packets and instructions to patients.
• Coordinates with surgical facilities for equipment or personnel.
• Ensures pre-operative labs are ordered and entered into the EMR.
• Audits the automated phone system daily and updates schedules as needed.
• Verifies scheduling accuracy before publication.
