Job summary

Hartford HealthCare Medical Group is seeking a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate hospital-based procedures in line with physician orders and insurance requirements. The role ensures prerequisite paperwork, pre-op testing, and clear instructions are communicated to patients.

You will maintain EPIC documentation, manage insurance authorizations, and support scheduling across regional Urology offices, offering collaboration with multiple teams and communities.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in a healthcare setting required.
• Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology, CPT and ICD-10 coding
• Computer skills; experience with practice management software preferred
• Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
• Ability to communicate in other languages is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Schedule hospital-based procedures/surgeries in accordance with physician orders and insurance requirements; ensure all necessary paperwork and required tests prior to surgery are completed.
• Communicate pre- and post-surgery instructions to patients; distribute surgery packets; keep physician and staff informed; coordinate with hospital teams for scheduling and add-ons.
• Obtain pre-certifications and surgical authorizations from insurance; update authorizations as needed; maintain charts.
• Ensure H&P, surgical clearance, labs and other tests are completed; scan and file documents.
• Coverage at other regional Urology offices to collaborate across teams and communities.
