Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) seeks an Engineering Project Manager – Substation to lead the full project lifecycle from proposal through commissioning, delivering safe, reliable, and high-performance substations.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will coordinate with teams, manage risks, review design, and drive standards while maintaining schedules and budgets, with emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• P.E. license preferred.
• Proven track record leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
• Strong technical expertise in structural, civil, or electrical engineering.
• Expert knowledge of electric utility engineering and construction standards.
• Knowledge of scheduling, contracts, coordinating, and managing all disciplines.
• Excellent business acumen.
• Knowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimates.
• Experience interpreting internal and external business issues, mitigating risk and solving complex problems.
• Experience supporting external customers.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Strategically collaborate with engineering and operational leadership on technical goals and oversee engineering work.
• Act as a technical lead during the conceptual, preliminary engineering, detailed design, construction, and closeout phases of the project lifecycle, including site visits as needed.
• Define engineering scope, deliverables, assumptions, and technical requirements for each project.
• Manage the performance of engineering partners, including KPI development and review with senior leadership.
• Facilitate design reviews, constructability reviews, and coordination meetings; identify risks early and mitigate them.
• Ensure internal technical documentation and standards are upheld to meet requirements.
• Develop and implement training strategies to elevate technical proficiency of the team.
• Support business development by participating in client meetings, proposals, and project planning.
• Work with Quanta Engineering and Construction Operating Units to drive work.
• Drive innovation and efficiency in engineering processes and methodologies.
• Foster a culture of safety, quality, and integrity within the department.
• Stay abreast of industry trends and apply relevant innovations.
• Represent QISG in industry forums, conferences, and associations.
