Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group (QISG) is seeking an Engineering Project Manager – Substation to provide technical leadership across full project lifecycles from proposal through closeout. You will coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning activities to deliver safe, reliable substations that support grid resilience.

Reporting to the Engineering Director, you will drive collaboration between engineering, construction, and client teams, manage risk, and ensure

Qualifications

• 10+ years in electric utility industry engineering or management on high voltage projects.
• Bachelor or graduate degree in ABET-accredited engineering.
• P.E. license is preferred.
• Proven leadership of multidisciplinary engineering teams delivering complex projects on time and budget.
• Strong technical expertise in structural, civil, or electrical engineering and solid principles knowledge.
• Knowledge of utility industry processes including scheduling, contracts, coordinating, and managing all disciplines.
• Excellent business acumen and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and operational leadership on technical goals and oversee engineering work.
• Act as a technical lead through conceptual, preliminary engineering, detailed design, construction, and closeout; site visits as needed.
• Define engineering scope, deliverables, assumptions, and technical requirements for each project.
• Manage performance of engineering partners and review KPIs with senior engineering leadership.
• Facilitate design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk mitigation discussions.
• Ensure internal documentation and standards are upheld and align with project schedules and budgets.
• Develop and implement training strategies; support business development and client meetings.
• Collaborate with Quanta Engineering and Construction operating units to drive work.
• Drive innovation and efficiency in engineering processes using new technologies.
• Foster safety, quality, and integrity within the engineering department.
• Represent QISG in industry forums and associations to enhance reputation.
