Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle, and high school levels to boost academics and attendance. You will plan and monitor progress, support teachers in class activities, and participate in whole-school initiatives.

No prior experience required; 2–4 weeks of initial training are provided. You will receive a bi-weekly living stipend and benefits typical of AmeriCorps programs, with eligibility for Segal Education Awards.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and mentoring students is valued.
• Ability to plan and monitor student progress.
• Strong collaboration with teachers and staff.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Plan literacy and math activities suited to each student.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Support development of interpersonal skills throughout the day.
• Collaborate with teachers to collect and review student progress data.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom environment with teachers.
