Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students to improve academic success and attendance, while supporting teachers with small-group instruction and class-wide activities.

You will participate in two to four weeks of initial training and ongoing collaboration with school staff to monitor progress and reinforce learning. This is a full-time, paid opportunity in AmeriCorps with benefits and education awards.

Qualifications

• Training provided 2–4 weeks at start of year.
• Work with partner teachers and school staff every step of the way.

Responsibilities

• Coach 1:1 and small groups to boost academics and attendance.
• Develop literacy and math activities tailored to each student level.
• Create and implement behavior management strategies.
• Help students build interpersonal skills through daily practice.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor and review student progress in City Year’s data system.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with the teacher.
• Support school-wide activities and family engagement programs.
