Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary, middle and/or high schools, focusing on academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors. You will plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction and student support.

The program includes 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year and ongoing collaboration with teachers and school staff, with a living stipend and AmeriCorps benefits.

Qualifications

• No prior experience required; training provided.
• Passionate about helping students succeed.
• Able to work with diverse students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Help students improve literacy or math and attendance.
• Collaborate with teachers to support class instruction and student progress.
• Help create a positive, safe classroom environment.
• Support after-school and enrichment programs and events.
