Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students, helping to improve academic success, attendance, and positive school behaviors. You will plan and monitor progress, working with teachers on in-class support and student assistance.

Experience in all tasks is not necessary; 2–4 weeks of training are provided at the start of the year. You will be eligible for AmeriCorps benefits and a living stipend.

Qualifications

• Experience not required; 2–4 weeks of training at the start of the year.
• Support academic coaching and interpersonal development for students.
• Work with teachers and staff to support classrooms and student progress.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Develop literacy and math skills through varied activities.
• Create and implement a behavior management system.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress and data.
• Help create engaging, safe classroom spaces with teachers.
• Support school-wide programs and student engagement initiatives.
